Michael was infected with HIV by a Brazilian dancer who died of HIV in 1993.

Singer George Michael has died, his publicist confirmed. The singer has long been diagnosed with HIV/AIDS, and died from its complications including pneumonia.

In 1991, Michael began to date Anselmo Feleppa, a Brazilian dress designer, whom he had met at a concert in Rio. Six months into their relationship, Feleppa discovered that he had HIV. Michael later said: "It was terrifying news. I thought I could have the disease too. I couldn't go through it with my family because I didn't know how to share it with them – they didn't even know I was gay."

George Michael enjoyed wild nights out with friends and all night parties just weeks before he died .

The star enjoyed raucous nights until 8am with friends at his £8million mansion in Highgate, North London – despite a reported stay at a Swiss rehab clinic last year.

A source said: “ George loved having friends over and was often still going strong well into the following morning. This continued right up until his death.

“He may have been in his 50s but it’s fair to say he gave much younger ­partygoers a run for their money and the atmosphere was always quite ­hedonistic.”

Last year George was ­reportedly treated for drug addiction at the £190,000-a-month Kusnacht practice in Switzerland.

Gotta agree.  Massive heart failure generally isn't connected with HIV/AIDS.

That would make more since. Massive drug and alcohol abuse does a number on the heart and other internal organs. Now AIDS wouldn't surprise me but in this day an age it is almost a badge of honor to some to have AIDS so why would he hide it?

The Mirror, which, admittedly, is not exactly the world's most credible source either, says that the official COD won't be known for a bit yet.

I know that there are some cases in which AIDS gives rise to congestive heart failure, but more commonly, it's a respiratory issue that ultimately kills someone with AIDS.

My guess is that there won't really be one definitive cause, but instead a collection of causes that ultimately were just too much.  Depression, smoking crack, speed, heroin, AIDS, alcoholism, a couple of suicide attempts, all probably ultimately played their part to overwhelm his heart at some point.

I haven't found a definitive source that stated categorically that he had AIDS/HIV, just that he once dated someone who died of AIDS. I'm not saying that he didn't have AIDS, just that it seems it wasn't made public if he did.
