Checkout line protests are actually catching on!
The National Enquirer is a publication that has something to do with the low information voter's support of Twitler. It, and other supermarket rags, tend to be very conservative and like most conservatives they make a lot of laughable, bullshit claims, but apparently the magical rust belt voter believes what they peddle.

I have seen threads here before about "checkout line protests" where you turn around the publications that are so virulently anti-Democratic. Just turn it so the back page is what shows on the rack. It has the effect of hiding the anti-Democratic headlines, but it also prevents the impulse buy that those lurid covers encourage, so it hits the publisher hard in the pocketbook.

I've begun to notice that ALL of the rags are turned backward on the racks in ALL of the three local supermarkets in my area. It's surprisingly great to see it. You know that someone has come before you who supports what you support.

Now I've joined the party. No Enquirer is safe from me!

It's a small gesture, but I feel it's a good habit to develop in the New Year.

24. Ewww. Enquirer has Trump family photo w/their roles in the new government.

When Obama and Bill Clinton were in high office, it was constant conspiracy bullshit.

I call that to the attention of those standing next to me in line.

29. No library books were harmed during the making of these statements

The local library is very right wing and Christian. On the shelves they display those types of books in holders. I turn them upside or backward or replace them with progressive books. They do have a few of those.
Years ago I made paper book markers with a picture of Bush and Cheney and titled War Criminals Impeach. I would place them in books about them and their agenda.
There was a book case that had only fiction books about Christians. It had a sign on top "Christian Fiction." I would get two Bibles from the religion section and place them beside the sign.
BTW: When in the library please go to the biography section and get the Lance Armstrong book and take it to the fiction section where it belongs.
I hope to get my library card back next year.

31. I've been doing this too.

The "Muslim Spies!" issue filled me with rage. I've been turning that around or covering it with magazines featuring decent people on the cover.

One guy in the checkout line behind me asked me when he saw me do that, "Your OCD kicking in?"

"No, covering up dangerous, racist shit."

He looked at it. "Aw, don't like Trump?"

I glared at him. "Ever hear of a paper called Der Stürmer?"

"No. No I haven't."

"It got six million people killed."

(Slight exaggeration but propaganda lays the groundwork for atrocities.)

35. I was in line at the grocery store...

...yesterday. I had picked up a copy of the current People magazine with Barack and Michelle Obama on the cover, and was putting on the conveyor belt.

And older white guy in one of those motorized carts was next in line. He saw the magazine and said, "You don't want that guy's picture in your house do you?" I shot him a mind-your-own-business look, and said, fairly loudly, "Don't start wth me."

He did indicate that he did not like either candidate this time around. I did not ask who he voted for, as I did not wish to engage any further.

I am going to try to be like Joy Reid, and not take any crap from anybody, which will be a real stretch for me. Shy and retiring both have my picture next to them in the dictionary.

Bigger bouncies out of the way, now on to the other stuff somewhat row-worthy:

7. I've been doing that for a long time,

And I also hide or turn around all those high-priced Reagan memorial type magazines.

When was the last time anyone saw a magazine memorializing Reagan?  Ridiculous.

10. yes!!

It is spreading. My friend says she even goes in the closed check lines to turn the magazines. If every time we do it, the Enquirer loses one customer, they will quit putting his damn photo in our faces.

Now armed with such powerful information, I've been doing running around town every single day in the runup to Christmas.  I've been diligently inspecting all magazine racks for tampering, and sections such as toilet paper and hygiene products for placement of inappropriate objects.  Nothing to report, sirs.

It's really hard to not just slam your head on the desk reading such childish antics.
What's even more disturbing is that most of them are bragging about doing such childish things, and never actually doing it. Who fantasizes about such foolishness?
These folks seriously need mental evaluation.

I know the "regulars" who do this in my store and no, I do not stop them - but I resent them and their petty "protests" that they feel so clever about. I'll never go out of my way to assist any of these makers of needless work that doesn't make a damn bit of difference. It only makes you feel clever and subversive. Me complaining about my work or your behavior isn't going to do anything except make me look like a complainer TO MY BOSS. You're the "customer who is always right", and spending money in the store. Instead of sneaking around turning magazines and books over like you're making some kind of noble contribution to the cause YOU could talk to the store manager. Or even better - write letters to the buying office or corporate big wigs.

Yes, it is childish and silly.  Still, I laughed at the picture of Obama's book shelved with the Summer's Eve.  I wouldn't do it myself, though.

So I was walking through a local McDonalds the other day and over heard a conversation in the "elderly gentlemen's coffee club corner" that went like this...

Gentleman 1: I voted for Trump, but it was getting to the point that I was getting what I suppose could be called oversaturated within him. Every time I walked through the checkout line at the grocery store all of the magazines and tabloids had him on the cover. I was getting sick of it.

Gentleman 2: Yeah. I know what you mean. I was having second thoughts about my vote. I was almost to the point of writing a letter to the electors and asking them to change their vote to Clinton.

Gentleman 3: You too?

Gentleman 1: Hell, I already had my letter written out!

Gentleman 2: You didn't send it?

Gentleman 1: No. For some reason I stopped seeing Trump's photo every time I walked through the checkout line. It made me sort of miss him. It even made me wish I could vote for him again.

Gentleman 2: I'm in the same boat. Not seeing him somehow made me want to vote for him again also.

Gentleman 3: And I thought I was the only one. Just think, if not for someone taking the time to turn around all those magazines on the rack all three of us would have been anti-Trump. Now that is a good Trump supporter who would go out of their way to do something like that. Really forward thinking.

I didn't say a word. Just chuckled as I waited for a cop to jump out of the bushes.

Here's another thread with the same subject...they really, really think it's catching on, and it's going to be sooo powerful.  Everyone says they're doing it left and right, in the last few days.  They're taking whole fistfuls and turning them around, especially targeting National Enquirer.

The problem is, I've been in stores every single day for what seems like a long time.  Trump hasn't been on any cover of the National Enquirer, People, or anything else.

Come January 21st, no matter how many magazines in how many Safeways and Krogers are turned about, Donald Trump will be President.

And unless there's a House or Senate seat The SHREW thinks she can carpet-bag to and win, The SHREW will never again be in a position of government power.

May I suggest the DUmmies DUAC organize protests at all Wal-Marts by having volunteers from each area of the country visit each Wal-Mart to turn those publications around.

Of course, that would require them to leave their empty pizza box forts in their parents basement and actually go out and get some sunlight.

If The Vaccine is deadly as anti-Covid-vaxxers claim, millions now living would have died.

I sure hope I see some DUchebag do this in a store. I will point it out loud and clear about what an asshole they are. Call the manager, and in general cause quite an embarrassing ruckus down upon the asshole. That is what they want right, attention?

However, since none of this ever happened nor will it ever happen I won't need to do that.
When you are the beneficiary of someone’s kindness and generosity, it produces a sense of gratitude and community.

When you are the beneficiary of a policy that steals from someone and gives it to you in return for your vote, it produces a sense of entitlement and dependency.
