http://www.democraticunderground.com/10028362061Seriously, it's just unbelievable how my friends are handling the day to day developments.
I follow their posts on Facebook (For the ones I haven't unfollowed) and even the enlightened ones are going into deep denial or withdrawal from reality.
1) I have one woman friend who is left-leaning who is withdrawing into Yoga zen, wishing away all the negativity from her life and focusing her attention on the positives of life.
2) My military friends are suddenly praying to God to keep "toxic" people out of their lives. And one of them said it all with just one sentence on her timeline: "I just don't know."
How is everybody else coping with this calm before the storm?

5. I'm not allowed to mention Trump to my mother
Following the election she decided she would stop watching the news and told me that I shouldn't talk to her about what he's doing. She's in her 70s now and I think this election was the last straw for her. She just wants to check out of politics.

8. Deep in the bowels of Pinterest
making hurricane candle holders, decorating my house like never before. Cleaning, organizing.
Watching the Hallmark channel instead of the news.
If I started writing about my worries, I don't think I could stay sane.

10. My wife and I have started to have discussions about moving to Australia
or New Zealand. It's a remote possibility but one we've opened up.
if all these lame ****s would really move this country would be a pretty nice place.

13. I'm calling my congressman and senators and raising hell.
I am a bulldog.
I will not give up. Even if it cost me my life.
Via heart attack or whatever.
Because so many of my friends and relatives have died and been wounded in combat fighting fascism. Their graves are being spat upon by the GOP.
They are also spitting in the faces of Americans who voted for Hillary Clinton.
I can safely say that 2.5 million more people plus the others who voted for Hillary are pissed.
That is the majority.
It's Theocratic corporate fascism we are facing.
Mitch McConnell, Bob Corker, Lamar Alexander and all of the other GOP actors are treasonous cowards for letting this happen.
Mitch McConnell was paid back by having his wife appointed to the cabinet.
He blackmailed Obama by saying he would frame the situation with the CIA pronouncement that Russian hacking was involved.
Rex Tillerson is even worse.
Screw it all.
I will not stop I will not give up.
I don't care if it takes 4 years are 8 years are 200 years.
I will never stand for this.

20. I'm a firm believer in watching your enemy very closely
I'm simply watching what's going on for now. Gotta know what's happening and I want to be a witness to history just as I've been all my life (I'm 68 so I've watched a hell of a lot of our history in the last 50 plus years). I need to be able to do what Rachel Maddow does. Put historical moments into historical context.
But I do escape into Netflix and other forms of entertainment because I've learned that emotional breaks are very significant in keeping me sane.

34. I'm doing the same things I did before the election
While I fear for the future of our country, my personal day to day life hasn't changed one bit other the way I am trading in the stock market these days.
BOTTOM LINE HERE FOLKS:
Donald Trump doesn't have the power to make my life shitty.
Hillary Clinton wouldn't have had the power to make my life wonderful.
All that is determined by ME. I am responsible for my own life regardless of the political realities of the day.
So while we despise the political landscape right now, always remember that the quality of our day to day lives is in our own hands.

39. I'm doing the same stuff as before...torturing my pro Trashpot co-worker about the day to day
developments...I must say it's quite fun and also a great stress reliever. Whatever this Trashpot **** does I will not sit idly by. I will be picking up the phone and attending rallies when I can. I will donate money to anti Trashbag causes. We should work in concert here on DU as far as phone calls and activism goes. These bastards listen when they get hundreds (would love thousands) of calls rather than just 10. I also enjoy calling Senators from out of state...I am a constituent everywhere.
I am mildly concerned about my country and what this Orange scented Trashbag is going to do to it. I fear us paying more $$ for things and I don't like that. I fear him picking fights with world leaders...I mean he already has. His cabinet picks are mostly an insult...we all know I could go on and on.... I can't control this Trashpot...just myself and I think it would do everybody a world a good to get ready to fight and get ready to get big league involved.
what a lovely person.
