A multibillion-dollar game of chicken is unfolding between Rahm Emanuel and Donald Trump.  The Better Government Association (BGA) of Chicago is an independent watchdog, the need for which should be obvious to anyone with basic familiarity with the ways of the Windy City.  Among other functions, it studies issues of importance to voters looking forward.  For instance: the potential cost of “sanctuary city” policies in the face of the proclaimed intention of the Trump administration to cut of some or all federal funding to cities that refuse to cooperate with ICE.

Mayor Rahm Emanuel might want to rethink his defiant attitude, because the City of Chicago is desperately dependent on federal funding for its social safety net.  Would Mayor Twinkletoes be willing to inflict pain on the city’s most helpless in order to protect illegal alien criminals?

Heard that Dallas will lose a similar amount.  They and other large cities will have to repay the feds any grant money if they continue as sanctuary cities.

I don't know about Rahmbo's resolve in the matter, but I would imagine that the south side would turn decidedly unfriendly towards those who are suspected of being here illegally if funds were cut off. Like an increase in homicide rate, unfriendly.

I'm also delighted to hear that California is going to become an entire sanctuary state.  That makes things much simpler: no need to selectively cut off San Fran and L.A.: just cut all federal funding to the state, period.  No highway funds, no Medicare funding, no SNAP.  But keep those mandates in place.  Sorry, Governor Moonbeam, but you're going to have to figure out a way to tax cow farts more in order to pay for your SNAP funding for the family of illegals who have taken up residence in east L.A., and you're still going to have to figure out a way to pay for Medicare for retirees in Marin county.

It'll be Mad Max out there within six months.

Only problem is the American leftist cockroaches will scatter (at least the ones who can afford it) and will bring their disease to other states. There will have to be some type of roadblock, lest the contagion spread.
