Wouldn't that 35% tariff the donald has been threatening ultimately be paid by the citizens of

the United States through added on cost to the end consumer?

Let's recap: they HATE Walmart's low prices and demand a return to the old Mom-and-Pop local stores (which, you know, had higher prices). They DEMAND American manufacturing jobs, too, and they've called for Protectionist policies for YEARS. Now, when they FINALLY get what they've been DEMANDING...

You lurking DUmmies are the stupidest forms of life known to mankind. For the record, I am not a protectionist. I find it AMAZING how ONE ELECTION has flipped you into NAFTA-loving free traders.

Oooo! Perilous thinking:

* Wouldn't that massive minimum wage increase ultimately be paid by the citizens of the United States through added on cost to the end consumer?

* Wouldn't the huge costs of those burdensome regulations ultimately be paid by the citizens of the United States through added on cost to the end consumer?

Well, if you include factory closings and low-end jobs being lost, yes.

H-5 and thanks for adding something I forgot. Businesses don't pay taxes. Their customers pay prices that include the cost of taxes, plus a "charge" for being government's tax collector.

According to the Fair Tax group, that number is somewhere around 22%. Cutting that out would certainly make the budget stretch a little farther.

And as far as those DUmmies who ask what the incentive for corporations to cut their prices, the easiest response is "competition". If Target said they were going to cut their prices by 20% across the board, would Walmart stand a snowball's chance if they didn't cut prices?

Another unintended consequence the DUmmies fail to consider: If retailer A increases prices to cover import tariffs, then retailer B, which is not paying that particular tariff, can increase its own prices up to the same amount, less 1 cent per unit, and still have the advantage. The result is that all prices for a particular good or service in a market will go up.

Once again, DUmmies and economics simply don't mix.  It is exhausting to read any drivel they post on the subject.

I think it is referred to as DUmponomics, or if not, should be.

Sounds good to me, maybe someone coined a similar term already.

I'm certainly not an expert on the topic.  But I took 4 classes for my undergrad degree.  The basics aren't that complex, but still seem to escape feeble liberal minds.
