Spy secrets-leaker Edward Snowden reportedly claims former CIA Director David Petraeus disclosed "information that was far more highly classified than I ever did."

In an interview with Katie Couric of Yahoo News, the fugitive former National Security Agency contractor said the case of the retired general —under consideration for secretary of state in the Trump administration — is evidence of "a two-tiered system of justice in the United States, where people who are either well connected to government or they have access to an incredible amount of resources get very light punishments."

Snowden, who's charged with theft of government property and violating the Espionage Act, is hoping for a pardon from President Barack Obama or a plea deal to let him back into the United States without significant jail time.

In his Yahoo interview, Snowden argues there've been cases "where the government goes, ‘This person was acting in good faith. They were trying to do right by the American people. But they did break the law.’ No charges are ever brought, or they’re brought very minimally."

"Perhaps the best-known case in recent history here is Gen. Petraeus — who shared information that was far more highly classified than I ever did with journalists," he added.

"And he shared this information not with the public for their benefit, but with his biographer and lover for personal benefit — conversations that had information, detailed information, about military special-access programs, that’s classified above top secret, conversations with the president and so on."

"When the government came after him, they charged him with a misdemeanor," he continued. "He never spent a single day in jail, despite the type of classified information he exposed."

===========================

Applying the same turd standard to Patraeus then also, Patraeus should have been court martialed for dereliction of duty, adultery, abuse of power, and a myriad of other punishable offenses of the USMC.

You may not get this ..

Not sure what you mean by your comment, "You may not get this," so I'd appreciate it if you can clarify that statement.

I don't disagree regarding Petraeus - except for one thing that you might not get. Petraeus had retired from active duty and was Director of CIA while he was banging Broadwell.

While Petraeus is technically still subject to recall by being on the retired rolls, UCMJ doesn't generally apply to retirees. I'm no lawyer, but I've never heard of the military going after somebody after they've retired -- and certainly not while they committed their sins after retirement.

Oh, and one other thing. The "USMC" is the US Marine Corps. I'm pretty sure you meant UCMJ, which is something entirely different.

Snowden's still a turd, by the way. At least as far as I'm concerned. It sounds like you have a certain admiration for him -- no matter how you slice it, he violated the law. And he hasn't been prosecuted yet, the little vermin, because he's still running.

As for Petraeus, you can say a 4-star general whose sole indiscretion (that we know of) cost him dearly. He pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor, but FBI wanted to charge him with felony counts. Somehow I think having to resign in disgrace just might be punishment enough, especially after his distinguished career.

At least Petraeus didn't release classified information through his own illegal server.

Double standards.

That's the way life works, especially when judgments are involved.

Bitchslapped for not knowing the difference.

If Snowden is guilty, Patraeus is also.

You're not listening. Petraeus (please note spelling) has been punished. Snowden has not, unless being on the lam counts as punishment.

I reject Petrayus.  Trump needs him like he needs John McStain or Mitt Rohmitoid.  All neocon establishment players.

Out them.

I'm sure DJT is hanging on to your every word.  ::)

If you're going to bastardize their names, though, I favor Juan McLame and Mitt Romneezleflee. It has a certain, oh, I dunno, rhythm to it.  :stoner:

Of course you reject Petraeus -- in favor of a treasonous subhuman ****tard by the name of Snowden.  :fuelfire:

Wrong.  All wrong.

 :lmao:

How so? Just because you say so? I'm afraid that isn't quite good enough.

Enlighten me. Show me where I'm wrong -- but you'll have to use something besides your opinion, as your opinion doesn't count for much.   :whistling:

Oh, and bitchslapped again just because you can't -- or won't -- present a reasoned argument.

I believe that the part missing is the classified material was shared with a person with a high security clearance, unlike Snowballs who shared with the media.  Yeah there is a double standard, the OP forgetting the facts.
