What happens if a candidate dies or becomes incapacitated?

If that candidate dies or becomes incapacitated between the general election and the meeting of electors individual states may pass laws on the subject, but no federal law proscribes how electors must vote in that situation. In 1872, when Horace Greeley passed away between election day and the meeting of electors, the electors who were slated to vote for Greeley voted for various candidates, including Greeley. The votes cast for Greeley were not counted due to a House resolution passed regarding the matter. See the full Electoral College vote counts for President and Vice President in the 1872 election.

As to a candidate who dies or becomes incapacitated between the meeting of electors and the counting of electoral votes in Congress, the Constitution is silent on whether this candidate meets the definition of “President elect” or “Vice President elect.” If the candidate with a majority of the electoral votes is considered “President elect,” even before the counting of electoral votes in Congress, Section 3 of the 20th Amendment applies. Section 3 of the 20th Amendment states that the Vice President elect will become President if the President elect dies or becomes incapacitated.

If a winning Presidential candidate dies or becomes incapacitated between the counting of electoral votes in Congress and the inauguration, the Vice President elect will become President, according to Section 3 of the 20th Amendment.

It is pretty easy to see you are calling for assassination before the Electoral College meets.

Maybe it's just my typical naivety setting in, but I just can't picture any of those mental midgets being smart enough to be an actual threat.
Of course, that doesn't forgive their desires.
I mean, who doesn't hate the socialist assbag we've lived under for 8 long years now? But revenge in my eyes is that SOB living out his days in humility, scoffed at every time he dares show his face... right along side the Clintoons.
I didn't shed a single tear when the "liberal lion" finally bit the dust, and I won't when Obama succumbs to the human eventuality either. But it has to be after a lifetime of suffering in their own guilt and shame.

Internet forums are one thing, but in life I have bad tendencies and find myself repeating something in my head nearly every day. It goes like this:

It's unequaled poetry ...and it gets me through it and allows me to see past the moment. DUmmies could learn a little if they only read the right materials. Hell, I might even start considering them humans again.

Fantasies about killing are not uncommon. They are, however, not “normal” because they indicate suffering and extreme psychological distress. Both fantasies about homicide and suicide might be thought of as a maladaptive response to psychological stress.

They can also occur when someone feels powerlessness and hopelessness.

There are many ways people try to cope with strong feelings. Some of them are healthy and some of them are not. For instance, using drugs and alcohol as a way to escape strong and unpleasant feelings, is maladaptive. It might provides temporary relief but most often makes the problem worse. Meditation and exercising are healthy ways of dealing with stress.

Every human being faces problems. It’s how one deals with these problems that makes their life more or less successful. Problem-solving skills can be learned from our parents or other role models and most importantly they can be learned from counseling.

Clearly, you are suffering. When you recognize that a problem exists, you should seek help. Writing to me at Psych Central is a good first step, but it’s not enough. You should ask your parents to assist you in finding a counselor. You should inform them about your depression and thoughts of suicide. Counseling could help you tremendously.

Finally, if you feel as though you might harm yourself or someone else, call 911 or go to the emergency room. The staff can keep you and others safe. Please take care.

Secret Service better be watching Trump like a hawk, especially on Inauguration Day, I'm fairly certain there will be at least one assassination attempt.
