An active shooter was reported Monday morning on the campus of Ohio State University.

Police told WBNS that eight people were taken to the hospital -- one in critical condition. WBNS also reported that one suspect was shot and is presumed dead.

Just prior to the incident, a WBNS reporter confirmed that a vehicle crashed into a building on campus.

The school first issued a Buckeye Alert shortly before 10 a.m. that read "Active Shooter on campus. Run Hide Fight. Watts Hall. 19th and College."

Current info is 7 hospitalized, shooter dead, no description or ID of shooter. Let the DU speculation run wild! And sane people again point out that "Gun Free Zones" are government-mandated kill zones.

Allowing for some substantial hyperbole, my tendency is that if there is an unexplained delay of several hours after a shooter's ID is at least partially known, it means a high likelihood that there is some aspect of the shooter's identity that is Un-PC.

The incident was initially reported as an "active shooter" situation, but the suspect did not shoot anyone. Instead, he crashed their car into a crowd and attacked victims with a knife, witnesses and law enforcement officials told NBC News.

A police officer was on the scene within a minute and shot the suspect dead. His name was not released, but law enforcement officials told NBC News he was an Ohio State student, a Somali refugee who was a legal resident of the United States.

The motive was unknown, but officials said the attack was clearly deliberate and may have been planned in advance.

Looks like the "shooter" was the police officer that engaged the perp, who had rammed his car into a bunch of pedestrians and then got out and started stabbing people with a "butcher knife". The current info is that the perp was a Somali "refugee" with permanent legal resident status who was an OSU student. How much of that is actually true remains to be seen.

Didn't read the dead guy's full rant. Kind of brought myself up short with his comment about the oppression of Muslims in Burma (aka Myanmar) having brought him to a "boiling point". For two reasons: 1.) that's being done by the Burmese government, not the US government (IOW, why run down, stab, and slash Americans over the actions of the Burmese government!); the Burmese government has bee driving non-Burmese and non-Buddhists out of Myanmar for something like a decade (or more; IOW, he was fine with the Burmese government oppressing Christian Karens).

The US is well rid of the guy, and should be back-tracking his influences to discover any sources of "radicalization" (with involuntary "export" for any such).
