I'm back, I survived.

Hello everyone.

I've still got my job. My brother in law passed away. One of my cars needs to be inspected and has a check engine light I don't understand. We bought a Great Dane puppy, named her Mini. Got a 55inch 4K TV for the living room, had to cancel Thanksgiving because family can't make it. Trump ****ing won, I've lost faith in the world and I don't feel good at all for having guessed this would happen. Glad that DU survived the hack.

That's my life. How's yours?

California Peggy comments, and then inexplicably the thread veers off to being a "Happy Birthday California Peggy" thread, and it takes a while to get back on track.

Dumped on my plate.

drumpf won, proving I was right about nearly half the country being willfully ignorant and intentionally stupid, racist, bigoted, small minded and extremely proud of all of it. I already had very little faith, if any, in the world, convinced that the drooling Troglodyte voters would finally amount to enough to elect a "drumpf" within the next generation. Hell, we're there now!

Then, right after dinner, the night after the debacle of the election, my wife, who just a few nights before was going on at length about how much she loves me, right out of the blue, surprised me with a request that I give her a divorce and vacate our home within 30 days. Six days later, on my birthday, I was served with the official papers and was laid off my job, working for her brother.

The bright spot in all this is, my son, who lives in Phoenix, Az. has offered me one of his spare rooms and says he very probably can get me a forklift driving job, where he works as a supervisor.

Gets me out of Illinois, which I hate with a white hot passion, and back out west where I really want to be and wish I'd never left. Az. isn't Colorado, but it's still out west and it's not Illinois.

I've shipped the bulk of my stuff already. My wife has agreed to pack and ship my PC and my remaining things on Dec. 7, the day I fly one way to Phx, if I sign off on my pick-up truck so she can sell it, which I've done already.

The last two weeks have involved researching trains, buses and planes. departures/arrivals convenient to my sons schedule. Deciding what stuff to walk away from and what to pack and ship.

It's been a bumpy ride, but there is a light at the end of the tunnel.

Whoa.

Huh.....  the Peoples Soviet of Illinois doesn't suit you?

But, you're just all onboard with one county telling everyone else to pay for them, huh?

It sounds to me, like you went full retard over the election probably not for the first or even the second time, and your wife had enough of it:

I very much doubt that there was anything 'out of the blue' about it - "didn't see it coming" because you're ignorant and oblivious, or because you exist in a constant safe space (whats the difference?) doesn't count.

So, this DUmmie had to get a job working for his wife's brother doing ... something.  And now he has to go get a job from his son driving a forklift.

A JOB.  From his SON.  Driving a forklift.  Not managing the plant.  Not in charge of all of the truck drivers.  Driving a forklift.

Honorable work; don't get me wrong.  But his SON is going to be his supervisor?  Is that ever how this is supposed to work?  This isn't some patronage job where the old man is put out to pasture and given a "management" or "executive" position just to give him a small office and a reason to get up in the morning.  This is someone who, after having hatched a child who somehow managed to grow up and become something of himself (doubtless due solely to his mother), is now dependent upon that same son to provide some sort of subsistence job for his father as a patronage.  And that's to replace the job that he got from his brother-in-law as a patronage.  This doofus is clearly un-employable unless he gets a patronage job.  In CHICAGO, where all he has to do is make nice with some local union boss and he can make at least as much as a forklift driver just by being the bag-man for IBEW or SEIU.

Good grief.  No wonder these fools are so ****ed up.

I was told that, if you ask, you shall receive.

But I also know that, no one is ever obligated to help you. So I understand if no one can extend any kind of helping hand.

But if you'll hear me out and you think you can help, please read onward.

My wife's side of the family has been on very hard times for quite a while now. They are a family of 5 that live in an old house on the side of the highway. The old house has no insulation in the walls, the only means with which they can heat the home is with space heaters. This obviously leads to high electrical bills.

The only members of the family capable of working, (2 of the 5, the others suffer from disabilities beyond their control) have either A) lost their job due to downsizing, even though she is a college educated Medical Scientist (that's my mother in law btw) and B) isn't getting any work at the moment. (that's my brother in law, who works in contractual contruction). My mother in law's unemployment benefits ran out months ago, and we fear she keeps getting rejected for job interviews because of ageism.

A few weeks ago, she fell and tore her shoulder, now she needs surgery. She's currently trying to apply for disability as it's the only way she'll be able to afford surgery and that could take years.

Before winter, this is the worst time for them to come up short on money. My father in law is stricken with many physical ailments, from MS to Glaucoma and much more, needs the heat on in order to basically, survive.

They are an honest and good family, despite their own financial troubles, they will still give anyone the shirts off their backs if anyone else needed it. They are the most amazing people I've ever met, I've never known anything but kindness and selflessness from them.

They're currently 6 months behind on their rent, their electrical bill has reached an amount that they cannot currently pay and so we fear the electricity could be shut off soon. There is only one car for them to use, and it's in need of a new water pump, tires and the starter has been acting up for a month.

The odds are stacked against them, and they did nothing to deserve it, they did nothing to bring it upon themselves.

So if you can, please help. Thank you. And I'm sorry again, I don't mean to inconvenience anyone.

They come up with the stupidest names as insults for presidents.  What the hell does drumpf mean?  At least the republicans come up with names that make sense like CROOKED HILLARY.
