What I Learned At The Barbershop In My Peckerwood Hometown
I live in a pretty big city, but it's only about an hour away from the college town I grew up in. After our parents died, we held onto their house and are down there on a fairly regular basis. It is a house, after all, and like any house needs regular attention. It's also the town where I get my hair cut. I found this guy about ten years ago, and he's a really good barber. In addition, a haircut only costs $12, a bargain these days.

So last weekend, I got there early and was the second in line when the shop opened. Customer #1 and the barber launched into a conversation that laid out the burning concerns of "Real America". A few desultory remarks about the election went by; George Soros paying demonstrators $15/hour to protest at Trump rallies, and this one student at the local college who said she was attacked by Trump fans - but of course, this attack "probably never happened".

The main issues, though, were as follows, and were the focus of the heat and energy of their conversation:

1. James Bond - In their words, that Idra-something guy - you know, the new James Bond. You can kinda see why they picked him, because if the lighting's just right, he almost looks like a white guy. Still, they should have hired somebody else.

2. The Green Lantern/Green Hornet/Green Somebody -I'm not really conversant in the world of superheroes, but apparently one of these superhero series is undergoing a reboot, and he's gay. They should have just left it alone.

3. Frozen - Apparently there's a sequel in the works or some sort of reworking of Frozen, and the story line will apparently involve a gay female love interest. They should have just left it alone - why can't they just leave it alone?!!??

There you have it - the real issues fueling white rage in "Real America" - a fictional spy being played by a black man, a fictional superhero who's gay and a cartoon character who's a lesbian. Such horrific assaults on American Values will not stand!

Nobody would care about any of that if it wasn`t all such a demonstration of "we are going to tear apart everything we think normal people hold dear and you WILL like it".

Why do a remake of James Bond by changing the character?
You couldn`t have created a new franchise with a black lead?

A superhero or Disney movie with an emphasis on sexual orientation?
Yeah,that sure fits the reason people take their kids to see them.

It is not the actual situation but the attitude behind it.

2. The most insulting reasoning I've heard on this election..

..was on NPR this morning. A tenured faculty member (Columbia, I think) implied democrats lost the election because of the groups they've chosen to protect: gays, Black Lives Matter, transgender teens who want to use a particular bathroom, etc.

I am proud to be a protester of Trump. I will NEVER be an enabler of or a bystander to his abuse of my fellow American citizens.

I don't see what we could have done to win over Trump's voters. Nothing gave them pause: not his mocking of a disabled man, not him failing to pay his contractors, using money out of a charity to pay his legal bills, being an inspiration to the people in the KKK. We're not the ones with a problem--they are.

There's actually a bit of hidden truth in that one.
We don't like the creation of protected groups for the sole purpose of ELEVATING their rights above all others.

I don't vote "for my own self-interests", and neither should you. There is right, and there is wrong, regardless of how it may affect you personally. I may not agree with a blatant racist, but he's got every right to throw you out of his store or home and your ideals are not to be forced onto him. He may pick me next. But guess what? They are his sovereign rights, not yours or mine.

Unfortunately, that IS the reason some of these nuts would take their kids to see it.
It's a push to not only indoctrinate those who they feel should share their views, but to rub it in to those who adamantly disagree and don't want their young kids exposed to that sorta debauchery.

The libs just can't imagine why anyone would reject billary. Let's see, she used an unsecured, unauthorized server to talk about classified info; she lies all the time; she promised to continue the same worthless economy we've had for 8 years; she and billy ran a pay-for-play scheme with their foundation and giving out government favors; wikileaks exposed just how crooked she is, how she and her companions look down on the average person, and how she has a universal size paranoia; she's getting dragged into a van at the 9/11 memorial, has to be assisted up and down steps and when she walks long distances, and she's not even able to go out and really campaign hard which tells everybody something is majorly wrong with her medically, but she won't talk about it; her foundation took money from the same people who give money to ISIS; she wants to impose a no-fly zone over Syria and dare the Rooskies to start something (yeah, let's start a war with Russia, you idiot!); etc etc etc.......

But, you know, it's the Green Whanker and Mickey Mouse.

Well, once you strip out all the prejudicial phrasing, the DUmmie isn't entirely wrong.  All those things are a matter of wedging in identity groups and themes into places where they don't naturally fit in the name of diversity, and the majority not in those particular groups see it as an obtrusive and inappropriate disruption of reality...even if that reality is the canon for a fictional character's existing continuity.
