superconnected (1000+ posts) Tue Aug-05-08 04:33 PMResponse to Reply #1 72. Yeah, important to be able to kill people yourself. I call that murder. Edited on Tue Aug-05-08 04:44 PM by superconnectedbut okay. You want to be able to "dispose" of people. How often do you plan on being firebombed anyway?Just asking because gun owner paranoia is always entertaining, I mean until they kill someone.

TooBigaTent (838 posts) Tue Aug-05-08 11:16 AMResponse to Original message 9. Where is the condemnation of Amerikan military who murder, rape, and destroy the lives of innocent Iraqis? If those fighting for animal rights can be attacked (and murdered) for their actions, why do so many here still defend the atrocities in Iraq?Like everything, it all depends on whose ox if getting gored. And most of DU seems to support animal abuse. Very disappointing.

I love how you and others totally ignore the atrocities that have provoked the aggressive response by those who are fighting for animal rights. It is obvious that most here (mirroring the US) do not care about those who are not themselves. Thus, abuse of non-human animals is perfectly OK.If people are not to be held accountable for their actions (as the suspected "firebombers" obviously will be), you wind up with the current state of Amerikan government. The pukes have done whatever they want with no fear of consequences. And many here rant and rave against them.I do believe that people need to suffer consequences for their actions. It is clear that most believe that does not universally apply.

I view those who abuse/exploit animals as sadistic, selfish, egotistical killers who Edited on Tue Aug-05-08 01:57 PM by TooBigaTentthink that they have the right to do anything they want because they are "superior" to non-humans. I prefer to believe that animals are beings that we share the planet with. As such, we have a responsibility to act responsibly toward them.If we are equal, we should treat them as we would want to be treated. If we are "better" than them, we should care for them, not destroy them. And for your information, the "scientific community" goes where the money is. Even with the bias built into government funding, many scientists assert that animal research is not as productive as it is held out to be.I guess that whole global warming thing is a faith-based science as well.
