A recent revelation that hypertensive Bob, the TheMastersNemesis primitive, and the Texas pyramid, the Gothmog primitive, were not contributing members of Skins's island, and hence kept from offering decent and civilized people much amusement and entertainment during the shutdown, got me thinking about something.

Should a new rule be made that only those primitives who are on record as donating to Skins's island that particular year (in this case, next year) are eligible for nomination and selection for the Top DUmmies?

I don't think freeloaders deserve the recognition and honor that comes with being a Top DUmmie.

Considering who he's married to, my good friend Skins has enough problems as it is; one imagines he hasn't gotten any, at least from the wife, the past ten days or more.

The poor guy shouldn't have to worry about money too.

<<<suspects that by making it obligatory for primitives to give to Skins's operating funds in order to be nominated and selected for Top DUmmie, the way they crave the distinction so much, they'll be happy to overflow his cash coffers.

Not sure.
Being a freeloader is their natural state so that would eliminate most of them.

Indeed - I think that the non-paying DUmmies almost deserve extra consideration - and those who manage to successfully beg stars even more.

Yeah, I'm not sure that should be a disqualifier.  After all, we don't want to be seen as intolerant of braindead infants existing in a constant state of misery and envy, just because their couch cushion retirement fund is bankrupt.

Definitely not, the desire to get something for nothing and take without end is an essential DUmmie attribute, and we would lose so many truly insane competitors.  Plus it'd be just one more damn' rule slapped onto a straightforward proposition, something we as Conservatives should generally avoid.

Donating to the DUmp does make one DUmber than most, but I wouldn't exclude the non-payers. After all DUmmies generally don't contribute to society in any way,  By requiring them to be star members would eliminate too many of them.

     Need I remind everyone that the 2015 DOTY, Rolex Randy Shaw, was not a donor?

I would almost prefer that they not be donors, as that implies that they're being prolific and
antagonistic for free. That's worth a few points alone.

I thought I'd test the waters, but obviously I didn't have to dip more than the tip of a toe into it, to find the common sentiment.  That won't become a rule.

Sometime Wednesday before I take off again, I'll post and "sticky" the nominating thread for the Top DUmmies of 2016.

Primitives from Skins's island, from DU Jr., and from Manny's message board will be eligible for nomination and selection.

In addition to the top ten, there'll be the William Rivers Pitt award, the Ralphie, and the franksolich is returning this year.  The Willy, for which members will nominate and vote, is for the most memorable primitive 2001-2016.  The Ralphie is a creation of my esteemed colleague Mr. Wiggum himself alone, as is the franksolich by yours truly, for a primitive overlooked by the general public in the nominating and voting, but one worthy of being in the top ten.
