A friend of mine was laid off last week and was hired yesterday.
Advertisements [?]She has spent her entire adult life in the Mortgage and Title biz.

For the last month or so, she was just waiting for the ax to fall. And fall it did, just last week.

But, lo and behold, she was invited for an interview yesterday with a major Title company in San Francisco. Called me last night, all excited because she had been hired, reporting for her first day of work today.

I expressed amazement that anyone in that segment was hiring, and she said she couldn't believe it, either. Told me that she expressed same to the interviewer, who told her that it was just a matter of time before the market turned and things would be all better again.
Told her that the company had decided to hang tough, make it through the down-turn.

She was so excited.

I just got off the phone with her a few minutes ago.

She told me that she drove into the City for her first day on her new job, parked, walked a couple of blocks to the Title company.

The doors were locked.

 Was it this one? http://www.bizjournals.com/sanfrancisco/stories/2008/07...

Good luck to your friend -- that's a tough industry to work in these days.

8. That's the one.
I couldn't remember the name when I posted.

She sounded like a frightened little girl on the phone.

I am going to take her someplace quiet and cool, tonight.

She told me that she just drove home and sat by herself, all day.

I am leaving soon, take her someplace quiet. Maybe play some songs for her.

on edit:

I just got this from ocelot. I couldn't recall the company's name.

We've got Bouncy tales. We've got stretchies. I think we need to have TiTty tales in honor of possibly the biggest fabricator on the web.

Come to think of it, unions do create jobs. Companies have to hire two workers to do the work of one.

My wife is in that line of work and business is bad, small town and all, you know. She's down to only working 44+ hours a week now........ :-)

No, my friends, there’s only one really progressive idea. And that is the idea of legally limiting the power of the government. That one genuinely liberal, genuinely progressive idea — the Why in 1776, the How in 1787 — is what needs to be conserved. We need to conserve that fundamentally liberal idea. That is why we are conservatives. --Bill Whittle

At least TiT isn't PLAYING with Sonny Landreth this time. He's slipping.

Let nothing frighten you.
All things are passing;
God never changes.
Patience attains all that it strives for.
He who has God lacks nothing:
God alone suffices.
