How are the Polls in Your Area

I voted at 8AM stood in line for a half hour to vote. Parking lot was overflow, cars parked on grass at a middle school.

I used to work the polls at a previous location and I have never seen a line like that at 8AM, sure if you wait till 6Pm but never at 8AM.  :cheersmate:

When I got to my polling place at a little before 7 AM, it was the busiest I've ever seen it.  We've only been in this area of the Town for four years, though.  There were two counting machines in my polling place (the Fellowship Hall of the local Lutheran Church), and when my ballot went in at just after 7 AM, it was the 73rd one in.  I voted straight, as is my custom.

I haven't gone in to vote yet (8:45 a.m. central time), but no rush.

I vote in a small town (population circa 1500), with no large centers of population (i.e., anything coming near the size of the town) for fifty or sixty miles; there's only two polling places.

Despite that turnout usually exceeds 80% of all registered voters, there's never been a line the fourteen years I've voted here.

It's about as lively as a cemetery, but that's fine. 

This particular area's expected to go for Trump 75%+.  It's not so much a conservative vote or a Republican vote, but a "**** you" (to the establishment) vote.

Urban will overwhelmingly vote Clinton, except for the urban areas in the Bible Belt.

If Trump wins, it will be from the support of the combination of rural and smaller towns and cities from across the country.

I've been at my current home for 16 years and gone through quite a few elections. I usually go late morning after everyone has gone off to work, then I leave and go take care of it. That was 9:30AM this morning... and the place was absolutely packed. The only line I've ever stood in was like 2-3 people in front of me, today it was about 50-60 and took about 30 minutes to get through the line. Wow, what a turnout. Just hope they were all on our team.

I went to vote at 7 am and there was long line. Which is shocking, because I live in the middle of a national forest and there are only around a 1000 people in this precinct.

And people were still coming when I left and the discussion was about how busy the poll was this early in the morning.

I arrived at 6:40 am and I was 7th in line. By the time the voting center opened at 7 am the line was out the door. My workplace is across the street and we're trying to keep the parking lot clear for our clients.

Nope, not in my area...It is an area that is how shall we say...Redneck, gun toting, bible loving, mom and apple pie Americans.

And I don't think they would like the response from our area if they did show up.

I haven't been yet, will go after work, but local radio reports say that Watertown NY polling places are packed.  Nobody's ever seen them that busy.

Okay, I went and voted shortly after noon.

I was the only one there, although while I was going in someone else was coming out, and when I was leaving, someone else was coming in.  I was told it's been that way all day; always one person there voting.

This was the shortest ballot I've ever seen here; for president, for U.S. congressman, for a couple of directors of the public power district and weed board, and whether to keep or retain the death penalty.  Turnout's high only because of the presidential race, probably.  Everybody wants to say "**** you" to the Establishment.

I voted at 7:30AM. Our polling place has two wards. If I remember correctly, I was voter number 48. The other ward had more people. I had to wait, maybe 5 minutes, for a voting kiosk to open up.

They did change the voting forms. We used to use felt-tipped pens to connect arrows. Now we had to use blue ball point pens in order to fill in a bubble. It took a few moments longer than the old way but I was in and out in under 10 minutes.

This is the first Presidential election where the Wisconsin voter ID law has been fully in effect.

Was going to go late morning, but made it mid afternoon instead.

Took me less than 10 minutes.  Was voter #1777 in my precinct.  Yes, I did vote for a Dem who was unopposed.  Otherwise, all R's.

Three things:

I got there at 7am, 5th in line. The polling workers where having problems with the machine. The third time they rebooted, I filled out a paper ballot.  About fifty people in line when I left.

Got a call from the wife. Was she mad. My wife is a US citizen, but looks very Mexican. When she got to the polls she was address in Spanish by a pole worker, who wanted to help her registrar and fill out her ballot.

 And he made a pass at her.  :rotf:

Yelled at him : she was a American citizen and was not going to put up with his nonsense.
