The sparkling old dude and franksolich are on the same page here.

Yeah, things are going to shift significantly.

It seems to me that a tectonic political shift will start on November 9, 2016

The GOPee cannot sustain in their current makeup. There is almost nothing in common between the Breitbatians and the Not Breitbartians. One or the other of these groups will inhabit the deflated corpus of the party. The other will form a new party.

While the crazies will seem ascendant, the fact is no one with logic sufficient to overwhelm their hatred will stay very long with the Breitbartians.

Meanwhile, the former Republicans who crossed over to our side will return to their natural affinity for center right policies. When the dust settles, we will have a solid left Democratic party and a center right Not Breitbartian party.

Hopefully, the net result will be a return to a greater degree of sanity. There will be cooperation and compromise in the Congress.

The hateful mother****ers (sorry, that's the kindest term I can muster for them) of the Breitbartians will stew in their own bile. As they die off there will be fewer and fewer hateful white ****s to replace them.

1. The crazy far right will form their own party

The rest of the Republicans will stay Republican and will fight fiercely with the crazies. Meanwhile we'll continue to win election after election until a far Left party emerges (which is unfortunately a matter of when not if).

2. I thought that would happen at their convention

when all the crazies refused to sit down and shut up while the power brokers presented them with an "electable" empty suit instead of one of the raging assholes they really wanted. They were shocked into doing that in 2012. They were in no mood to be shocked into it again and there would have been a riot on the floor.

However, Trump came in, a reality TV name ready to take advantage of all the anger at the power brokers.

Yes, the party can't continue the way it is now, the various gangs of lunatics have taken it over from the tax whiners at the top. I sincerely hope these are their death throes. Trump really needs to be the last one.

I forgot to ask the sparkling old dude why Messalina Agrippina cancelled the fireworks show she'd planned for tomorrow night.

Maybe her campaign ran out of money and couldn't afford them?

I dunno.

Hey, Stinkdud, there will be a shift.  In 2018.  Of the 34 Senate seats up that year, you know how many are currently Republican?

8.

Of the remaining 26, there's one independent that currently caucuses with the Dems (Sanders), and one that caucuses with whichever party is currently in the majority (King, from Maine).  The other 24 Senators up for re-election are Democrats.  If HilLIARy wins, it's pretty much a guarantee that she will piss off the Republicans to the point that she could very well face not only a veto-proof Senate in 2019, but an impeachment-ready Senate as well.

Don't think they wouldn't try?  Think again.  She deserves to be removed by the Senate.

Want to know how to forestall this?  Vote for Trump.

So they're forecasting the end of the GOP again? What is this? The gizzilionth time?

No, actually it's more times than that.

Thus far it's up to the megaburpabillionth time the primitives have forecast the imminent demise of the Republican party.

Well now, somebody's got to ask why come Bill had to help Messalina Agrippina when she fell onto the ground walking from the airplane to the car in Philadelphia tonight.

Stinkball gets a fail in basic logic.  A farther-left Democratic Party would be even more intractable and uncooperative than they already are, which would not be willing to negotiate (In the real, non-Obama sense) anything to make reasonable bi-partisan deals, because everything would be a matter of fall-on-your-sword principle.

Predicting the demise of a political party is pretty much a guarantee one will be proven embarrassingly wrong. And in the case of a tight race like Trump-Hill, add the adjective laughably.

Mikey doesn't even understand his own political party.

I forgot to ask the sparkling old dude why Messalina Agrippina cancelled the fireworks show she'd planned for tomorrow night.

Maybe her campaign ran out of money and couldn't afford them?

I dunno.

It also was telling that Trump closed his campaign in Grand Rapids, MI (republican part of a democratic state), and Hillary not only cancelled the fireworks display without comment but finished in Philadelphia (democratic part of a democratic state). Also heard that the Comey garbage from Sunday was a Hail Mary pass from her and her internal polling was showing that she would lose. We'll see.
