Sgt. Francis tweeted a photo of the suspect, writing "Here is the shooter. We believe just one shooter ... Armed with rifle."

The somewhat blurry pic is embedded just after where my quote ends. Looks like the local PD has tried to get fairly accurate info out early. The article I saw on PJMedia, a collection of social media posts from local media and police, mentions a witness who said the shooter called out one of the victims by name. Sounds like the motive, if that word is appropriate, was personal.

They've apprehended the suspect, no word on his identity so far...the reticence to release that crucial bit of info most likely means he is either really a Hispanic, but an 'Undocumented' one, or he's a Mid-Eastern gentleman of some variety belonging to a certain well-known religious group that celebrates a Friday Sabbbath.

A light-skinned Hispanic, a dark-haired Italian, a Greek, and many ME men are going to look reasonably similar, so I took the description "Hispanic" with a grain of salt. The suspect is in custody and is Turkish (has been in the US for several years).

That doesn't look like the rifle he used in the surveillance video--that one appeared to have a wooden (brown) stock-- it almost looked as if it was an M1 Carbine.

It appears to be a Saiga 12 gauge.



I can't tell what he was carrying in the surveillance footage, but it isn't a Saiga.
