Oh my.

By the way, has anyone seen thunderthighs, the fizzy primitive, lately?

She kicked her worthless husband out of the house, and then evaporated; but that was months and months ago.

If I ever want to complain about anything personal again, remind me of my old friend

We had some friends over for lunch yesterday. They used to live in our town, but moved to Wiesbaden when he joined the BKA (German version of the FBI), and he was later transferred to their Berlin office for Secret Service-style security work. He retired and now works in the private sector.

His wife was a high-powered woman who contended with two very difficult sons. The first one was adopted, grew up to think he was gay, later figured out he was Transgender, got the operations, got married, is already divorced, used to beat his adoptive mother unmercifully during arguments, and even now, they won't speak to each other. Their other son was mishandled at birth, suffered oxygen deprivation, survived severely mentally handicapped, and has the emotional development of about a 3 year old (he is now 38). He still lives at home (for now, anyway), but cannot fend for himself. He has found day work in an agrarian project outside of Berlin for people with similar mental handicaps, but no physical ones.

His wife has now been battling cancer for couple of years. She has had numerous operations and treatments. It has now spread to her liver, lungs and brain, and she told us flat out yesterday that it was probably the last time we'd see her alive. She is barely able to handle the handicapped son, but that is about to end.

My friend has been taking all this with tremendous courage, trying to manage the issues of his three family members as best he can, juggling it all with his new job, which is doing security work for the Jewish community in Berlin. But it has to be taking its toll. He is nearly 70 now, although in decent shape, considering.

Whatever I may have to contend with, it is NOTHING like what my friend in Berlin has been dealing with for many years now. There is a very good reason I never make light of people who say they got the short end of the stick, or tell people I don't have it so good, when I know I kind of do. You don't have to be a gazillionaire to have it good. Having it good can also simply mean NOT having a lot of horrible stuff.

3. My dear DFW!

Omigod. Your friend has lived under these onerous conditions for so much of his life.........my heart goes out to all of his family.

I hope he will reach out for some help. He surely could use it, as could his sons.*

Perspective is sometimes a tough lesson.

6. As well as can be expected, thanks

Being scattered to the four corners of the earth, the news sometimes takes a while to trickle i´n.

As for us, we should be here. That should be cue enough for some Romanian truck to run over me because its brakes failed, but so far, so good!

5. Thanks for this

I've been a craphole of a mood and having a pity party for myself all week long. My life sucks, but I know it is a lot lot worse for others.

7. My friend has been dealing with some version of all this for decades, and now it's worse

I don't know how he copes. When he was working for the BKA, he was also a forensics expert, and they sent him off to Indonesia to indentify what was left of the German victims of the Bali disco bombing. I would have jumped off the nearest tall building long ago.

My initial reaction was this:

How is it possible for the DFW DUche  to not drop a name? Mind... blown...

Well, she's welcome to, but she'd have to give up the bong.

Oh now.

You have to admit though, that thunderthighs is perhaps the primitive femme most compatible with franksolich; other than her passion for the bong, her enthusiasm for abortion, and her hatred of God and religion, we're pretty well matched.

And I'm sure that living out here, instead of in depraved Colorado, would change her considerably.....for the better.

Can't find an address change for either one of them but her fat (soon to be ex) husband Frederick is claiming to be separated on FB.

She's way far too good for him, and she has got to consider this separation one of the best things that ever happened to her.

But she seems attracted to losers--which is probably why franksolich doesn't turn her on--and is sitting around feeling rather blue and melancholy.  She's probably been doping it up, swilling down the beer, and eating like a pig, to dispel her downheartedness.  She already had thighs bigger than mine; if she's not careful, each thigh of hers is likely to be as big around as my waist.

She doesn't need to go to pot like that, but who has the power to stop her?
