16. Good.

This thing we call "economic productivity" is a direct measure of the damage we are doing to the natural environment and our own human spirit.

In the "developed" nations most work is bullshit that does not make the world a better place.

We ought to be paying people to discover comfortable low energy lifestyles, not discouraging them with very real threats of homelessness and starvation.

Anything that requires the use of fossil fuels is killing the natural environments that we humans evolved in, and this is increasing human migrations away from regions that become less habitable.

Some of these climate change refugees will be U.S. citizens. Historically the U.S. response to internal refugee problems has not been positive. "Okie" was not a term of endearment.

Personally, I don't have anything to do with cannabis, it's not a drug that's helpful for any of my mental health issues, but I also think criminalizing cannabis is stupid and harmful.

If people want to smoke a bit when they get home from their crappy, frustrating jobs, what's the harm in it? And denying cannabis from people for whom it's an effective medication is simply evil. Recreational use is really no different than a pint or two of beer, and probably less dangerous than alcohol, especially for people who have trouble limiting their alcohol intake.

The entire "war on drugs" is harmful. Addicts ought to be treated just like anyone else with a chronic health problem. Addiction rates seem to be pretty consistent with or without punitive laws prohibiting certain drugs. Punitive laws make drug use more dangerous and funds dangerous gangs.

Our own U.S. DEA is, in effect, a price support agency for dangerous street drugs, removing the competition for the biggest, baddest, deadliest gangs who are able to buy some amount of "protection" from corrupt officials.

146. Some speakers shouldn't be tolerated.

Things won't change until U.S. Americans learn how to stand up for themselves.

In too many ways we're a beaten, ignorant, downtrodden people.

Voting for a clown like Trump is not the answer.

Not every opinion is worthy of respect.

And you describe everything that is wrong with this world.

Economic "productivity" as we now define it is a direct measure of the damage we are doing to the earth's natural environment and our own human spirit.

Most of us are not lucky enough to have jobs that make the world a better place, or even enough to bother getting a passport for international travel. Most of us do not have the opportunity to wander, not even in our own imaginations. Our choices as individuals are severely limited by oppressive and ultimately unsustainable "free" market economies.

I'm a very fortunate child of this world. I was born in the U.S.A.. My parents are artists, neither especially successful in terms of selling their own art, but with skills they could apply to their day jobs. My dad's trade had a strong union. We could travel. My dad could even quit work for months, once more than a year, at and return right where he left off.

As a kid we lived in Europe for a year. We were living in Franco's Spain, but we had to leave in the middle of the night after my mom told a pompous and petty government official what she really thought of him. My dad couldn't sleep that evening, so just past midnight we stuffed our car with everything we could and left for France.

We were living as indigent Americans in a French public park because my dad's money was in Spain. This was before VISA cards and ATMs. The local French community was so disturbed by our presence they bought us gasoline for our car and ferry tickets to England. Barclay's Bank allowed my parents to open a checking account with a negative balance and Barclay's eventually recovered my dad's money from Spain.

It was a different world then. How did this story happen? My dad got some really, really, inexpensive tickets on a ship that was leaving New York for Europe to be refitted. We took the train from Los Angeles to New York, sleeping in our seats, eating mostly food we brought for the trip.

My own young adulthood was even more intense.

In this modern automated world our food, shelter, basic medicine, birth control, and electronic communications are cheap. Anything we choose to do beyond these things ought to be a matter of personal choice.

The neighbors I see picking strawberries in the fields near my home are subsidizing the very wealthy.

**** that shit.

8. My wife and I by some planning and greater good fortune abandoned the commuter lifestyle decades ago

Unfortunately we are still expected to own cars if we want to be considered fully functional adults in this society.

My car is a big "**** You" to car culture.

It's a mid eighties $800 piece of shit with over 300,000 miles on the broken odometer.

I only wash the windows. It has spiders and lichen living on it. When I drive it the spiders figure it's a strong wind, bad weather, and seek shelter.

My relationship with my car is entirely dysfunctional. It continues to live to spite me. Unfortunately as a young person I learned some mad mechanic skills. I can fix most anything that goes wrong with a car.

This is hell.

We've been doing just that, for too long.
We will make America strong again. We will make America proud again. We will make America safe again. And we will make America great again.

I'm looking forward to reading about hunter's next 302 involuntary commitment. I'm guessing it commences this week? All the kool kids hang out in the ward.

The pill-swapping parties are the highlight of the week. Never mind the little bit of saliva on the pills.

The good news is it will probably kill you.  Either a poisonous spider will bit you literally on the ass or it will break down when you badly need it to go, like crossing lanes on the Interstate.

The appearance of your belongings is a direct reflection on how you feel about yourself.

Winners tend to their cars, their premises and themselves, now matter how old and worn.

Losers blame the "car culture" and "ownership society" when the real problem is they hate themselves and show it.

Some crazy people should never be allowed in general society.  UGP is example A.  Jeff's ghost is example B.  This dummie is example C.  :cheersmate:

Sometimes I ponder what skinner thinks about his website.  I mean he has a site that attracts the craziest people.  I am sure he gets good money to provide it otherwise it would have failed a long time ago. I just wonder if he ever thinks about maybe gently pointing these nuts to some mental health therapy seeing as dems are oh so compassionate.

Wait... skins is a hillary loving dem.  He only cares about people come election time and his wallet.   :thatsright:

I think I just had a dumb moment.   :rotf:

I wonder whether this blithering idiot-fool has a hint of a clue how many products of that "economic productivity" he so reviles he used to make his imbecility glaringly obvious to the world.
