Favre says Goodell has reinstated him, will fly to Green Bay
« on: August 03, 2008, 11:17:57 AM »
HATTIESBURG, Miss. -- NFL commissioner Roger Goodell reinstated Brett Favre on Sunday, the three-time MVP told ESPN's Ed Werder.

Favre was prepared Sunday to fly to Green Bay, he said.

ESPN's Wendi Nix reported Favre's plane was scheduled to touch down at 6:30 ET, though he didn't plan to attend the sold-out Packers Family Night at Lambeau Field, which more than 60,000 fans were expected to attend.

Packers officials planned to greet Favre upon his arrival to Green Bay.

Brett will get to compete in GB for the starting job. (which he will win, IMHO)

So sayith, the on the field reporter just before tonights HOF game kicked off, adding the works "flip flop".  :-)
"When you see that trading is done, not by consent, but by compulsion - when you see that in order to produce, you need to obtain permission from men who produce nothing - when you see that money is flowing to those who deal, not in goods, but in favors - when you see that men get richer by graft and by pull than by work, and your laws don't protect you against them, but protect them against you - when you see corruption being rewarded and honesty becoming a self-sacrifice - you may know that your society is doomed."

subterfuge.  I'll bet that they are going through the motions just to maximize his trade value.  GB has apparently told Minn that favre is available.

yep...

favre will be traded...

I'd say trading him to the vikes would prolly be a HUUUUUUGE mistake ...

the vikes would be a near deadly team w/ Favre at QB....chicago, still not so much :lmao:

but the vikes have a BETTER defense than the bears & by far a better running game ...

QB is all the vikes need & favre would most definitly do ( for REGULAR season & unimportant games anyway  :rotf:)

TT and MM's egos are in the way.  they should be primarily concerned with putting the best possible team on the field, and that team undeniably and absolutely included brett favre.  but those two seem to have their dainty little panties in a wad over that trip they took to hattiesburg to "welcome favre back with open arms" in may (or whatever) that brett canceled.  they have been repeating that silly "rogers is our quarterback" in zombie like fashion ever since.

stupid, stupid, stupid.

once a corporate decision in a multi million dollar biz is made, its made...

favre is not the GB packers ....only in his own mind ...

I think the current packers players will be inspired by favres arrogance & the media's nonstop favre bullshit....

right now, rodgers & the current packers don't stand a chance w/out favre according to the media & the packers players should be fired up about that...

kinda like the giants hearing how great the Pats were 24-7 last year.... this created an unstoppable force in the giants hearts ...

this coming after hearing a whole offseason & during the year the similar chant of "how can the giants win w/out TIKI"

all the guy wanted to do is play football.  how you can feel yourself qualified to climb into someone's head and exclaim to the
world exactly what he is thinking, and why he is doing what he is doing, is utterly beyond me.

and you must be reading the MSM on another planet.  I haven't seen anything that implies that the packers are hopeless without favre.  I have seen plenty of stories that indicate that GB is probably better with #4 than without him, but I would think that is the opinion of most of the non-stoned, not retarded population.

I played a fairly high level ball... (soccer, not FB) ...

when I was in high school, I was a headline in newspapers in the DFW area & I ws an all american player....yeah, it goes to your head....you get used to be the best & when you no longer are, it f**king sucks ....

I know how it feels to be on top & then not be so great as the game passes you by.... it sucks & I missed playing when I 'retired' after college .... so I could just imagine the level favres feelings go...

favre is thinking about 'what am I gonna w/out playing anymore ?? ...

but the difference is, most of us go through this in our early 20's w/out a dime in the bank, not at 40 years old & 10's of millions in the bank...

favre needs to GROW UP & possibly think about his wife w/ cancer for awhile..

possibly think about training/teaching the youth on his team &/or in his area & THEIR CAREERS /FUTURES...

favre its seems has little discipline in regards to the TEAMS overall well being...

I think this is obvious being that favre has only won 1 SB (& that was because of their DEFENSE, not him) ...

favre likes to clown around....well guess what, he hasn't won the big one in over 10 years...

GB management is done 'playing around' ....I don't blame them

favre is worth $$$ & he's put GB's brass in a position where they need to look at only money now & not favres mystique or wishes...

I think if GB's management had put their foot down 8 -10 years ago, brett favre & the pack would've had themselves 2 or more SB's under  their belt...

but favre , like a union worker, was never in jepoardy of losing his job & therefore, never really straightened up like he should've ...

The Best Baseball I have ever seen was Phil Nieckro (Famous Knuckleballer ) pitching a winning game for the Cleveland Indians at 48 years old (And not using the Knuckle ball one time during game) so Age is in most cases not a factor for players who make pro teams...

brett favre will not be traded to the hopeless raiders...

he will retire first & GB's brass would most definitly be painted as major league bungholes if they try & pull that shiite...

and a 2nd round pick for brett favre ain't diddly shit...

favre is worth 10's of millions of dollars for whatever team lands him...

why ?

MARKETING...

pure and simple...

sure , he may win them a couple extra games or be a deciding factor (depending on who he goes to)..

but one thing is for sure, is that he  WILL FILL THE STANDS & sellout the TShirts, hats & everything that goes w/ the name no matter what...

favre is worth at least what the packers owe him &/or offered him (20-30 mil) ...

only a first round, top 7 pick is worth around 20-30 million... MAYBE

yes it is... especially football

its all factored into the equation when it comes contract time..

an brett favre is NOT a knuckleball pitcher, he's a FASTBALL pitcher & not too many of them make it to 40 & still win World Series.... :-)

& tell us how many 300lb defenders sacked nieckro that season eh ??  :lmao:

baseball contracts are alot easier to negotiate, &  player performance is easier to evaluate (just look at their numbers) ...

favre is still good & at times great....

favres problem is he's not great when it really counts & he's playing in the ultimate team/physical sport......not baseball & w/out a doubt, his days are numbered because of his age & lack of clutch performances over the years..

I hope he realizes that if he doesn't go to AND WIN the Superbowl, Favre will personally get all the blame.  How little people remember 2-3 years ago when everyone outside of Wisconsin was shaking their head saying he should have hung them up when he was on top.

agreed w/ all of the above.....

and I'm most definitly shaking my head now & saying the same...

but, in favres mind, he doesn't see any blame...

he'll only see his TD's & or good passes, not his bad ones & nor will he not factor in the missing ring at the end of the season...

in his mind, it still won't be his fault...

we all  know that the Packers are gonna have to go through Dallas again too....

and what is favres record in dallas ?? ..

did he even complete more than 2-3 passes last season in dallas ??

I'd say favre would have a better chance at a SB playing for the Vikes than the packers....w/out a doubt..

Think last Elway superbowl victory ... :fuelfire:

outch...

thats gonna leave a mark...

reason the pack didn't win that SB ...

no REGGIE WHITE...

just like the year before , favre didn't do much till the 4th quarter, but,  favre missed the wide open WR against the broncos for a sure 7 & elway got the ball back on the 50 yardline...

there is not a single sentence in this reply that is factually accurate.  not.a.single.one.

reggie played in that SB ??

I thought he retired after GB's  SB victory ??

my bad... I guess I should've said 'no reggie white in his prime  :lmao:"

other than that, all I remember from favres two SB's was:

- mediocre performances from favre
-desmond howard scoring 1or 2 TD's & running for more yards than Favre passed for
- reggie white raping bledsoe in the 4th quarter
- TD/elway raping GB most of the game...

am I wrong here
