The death of civility

There was a time when the media was outraged when Bob Dole told George Bush One to stop lying about his record. That sounds very tame compared to today's rhetoric.

There was a degree of civility that was expected from our leaders. That has disappeared with the appearance of Donald Trump on the scene. Anyone goes. Call your opponent any name you want. The media, which should be a referee in our politics, has no idea how to report on the new vulgar nature of politics.

It is sad to see such a rapid decline in civility and common sense in our politics. A big majority of our voters are ripe for the picking. This is a threat unlike any we have seen, at least since McCarthy times.

Trump represents the death of political correctness, and the fascist speech control...not civility.

I've officially run out of descriptive phrases for these retards.

8 years of non-stop race baiting and now, the most corrupt and morally repugnant individual that has ever run for elective office, in my time.

Sorry if I laugh in your face, you brain dead putz.

Kidding.  Phuck you, Idiot.

Liberal thinking is a two-legged stool and magical thinking is one of the legs, the other is a combination of self-loating and misanthropy.  To understand it, you would have to be able to sit on that stool while juggling two elephants, an anvil and a fragmentation grenade, sans pin.

I can't say DU has been what killed whatever degree of civility there may have been in the past century or so of US politics, but DU certainly has been :beathorse: , hard fast and continuously.

Civility in politics is not a good thing.

Tell that to Mitch McConnell and Paul Ryan.

Yea, this complaint from the bluegrass primitive makes little sense.

The political left has been lowering the standards by promoting the liberalization of social issues/morals for decades now. A natural extension of that is going to be people, including politicians, conducting themselves and speaking in ways that are more crass.

The time to decide whether you want "a rapid decline in civility and common sense in our politics" was when you were contemplating the liberalization of social issues/morals knowing the decline in civility would naturally follow in time, not after you've already done it.
