If going into your Social Security office is anything like "take a number and take a seat"...

where the first time you learn to bring a bag with a book and water if you ever have to return.

Try to remember to smile at the clerk who greets you - maybe a little extra for that person in front of you for whom it might have slipped their mind.

I was just reminded that the public-facing window at a government job can just suck the soul out of you. Not the only job that does that, but I don't think many people thought it could be one of the perks. This is a time of keeping deficits down which benefits those with money, as so many other things do. So we are not allowed to hire the people to make your service better.

So if you have any suggestions on how to do that going into the second half-hour in one of those plastic chairs, they are welcome.

Another job that appeared to do that was the security guard at the SS office.  Last time I went in, I had to change my name after my marriage.  The guy just sat and stared at empty space for hour after hour after hour.

That 'dude' does have a point . . .

SS office ain't got nothing on the damned DMV.

Let's hire the dumbest group of folks outside of the dummies and put them in a place where they have to deal with the majority of citizens in a state.

Yea, I've watched it work for decades like this: Double gov't payroll, increase service by maybe 1%.

Look primitive, all you've told me is you think more guys on the side of the road leaning on shovels is a good thing. How about you actually start paying Federal taxes on April 15th and maybe after 10 or more years of doing that you can have an opinion that might -- might -- be worth hearing.

Actually, my servicing office is an hour's drive away, but handles people pretty efficiently.  I had to take my wife in to replace her card, really took no time at all.

And knowing this, DU-folk and other Libs/Progs want the same sort of government paper-shufflers in charge of their health care!

Sadly, I know exactly what you're talking about.
