“Black Olives Matter.”

That’s the slogan used by a restaurant in Albuquerque, New Mexico to promote their new tuna and black olive tapenade dish.

After generating controversy in July for using that play on words on the restaurant’s sign, Paisano’s Italian restaurant has chosen to sell merchandise using the same play off the “Black Lives Matter” movement’s slogan.

Though Paisano’s owner Rick Camuglia reportedly agreed to take down the message from Paisano’s marquee back in July after complaints from the Albuquerque NAACP among others, he apparently sees no problem in making some quick cash from the BLM catchphrase.

One of my Facebook faves is in ABQ.  If I ever get over there, we will be getting our Italian on elsewhere!

So the thread plays out about how you would expect but NuclearDem inadvertently states the truth

I read that earlier,they actually want to enshrine some "speech" as untouchable.
The founding fathers looked 225 years into the future and recoiled in horror at the modern left.

DU humor is very partisanly (yes, I know I'm adverbizing an adjective) situational:

* Suggesting eradication of conservatives as genetically defective is seen as funny;

* A take-off on a Prog cause's slogan is racism that must be demonized.

I think "Black Olives Matter" is cute as hell.  My husband is such a bigot, he can't stand them.  I love them.

I'm safe, my longest ever was 17.46 miles, in July (~5.5 hours). This coming Sunday is a 10K in a redwood forest, but no marathons, yet.

Gina, she's married to a somewhat conservative.  Military-type I think.  It makes her the only half-way sane one over there.  The fact that she doesn't have that automatic, kneejerk hatred of anything republican makes her a little more grounded.
