My guess: Whether the Republicans toss him out, strong urge him to quit (perhaps that have something to blackmail him with), or Trump himself sees a humiliating loss just over the horizon is that he'll "withdraw" before Sept. 14 (so he won't have to debate and so that it won't look like that's the case since the debate is scheduled for the 626th or so) blaming, basically, the rigged election, the back-stabbing Republican establishment, and the lying media.

My guess.

(I'm 69 and have been watching the political stage for over 55 years, and I can easily say I've never seen any election (aqnd I was busted in Chicago in 1968) as entertaining and bizarre as this. It's great to share it with friends at DU.)

Look dummie... Trump is many things. What he is not is a quitter. I don't think it is in his personality.  I think he will see it out to the bloody end because he is a fighter.  I personally don't think he is going to win myself. Too many establishment folks on both sides and the media do not want to see him win and they are gonna go all out to bring him down. He speaks his mind too much to win the election, not a polished politician.  I will give him credit though... he will outwork hillary on the campaign trail. Will that be enough? I doubt it.

He lives in your head rent free, dummie.  I'd like to see him win if for no other reason that your collective heads will explode in a massive, grotesque manner.  That right there is a good reason to vote for him.

Less than 3 weeks ago DU-folk were predicting Trump would skip debates entirely. 3 have been scheduled, so I guess they've "moved on" to the next fantasy-narrative.

They're grasping at whatever straw they think they can get.

I think that the election will be close . . . right up until the last week, when the combined weight of all of the Clinton scandals will cause a Trump lead of about five points, which will carry through the 8th of November (follow-through is important!).  What happens then is anyone's guess.
