Hillary Clinton recklessly discussed, in emails hosted on her private server, an Iranian nuclear scientist who was executed by Iran for treason, Sen. Tom Cotton, R-Ark., said Sunday.

"I'm not going to comment on what he may or may not have done for the United States government, but in the emails that were on Hillary Clinton's private server, there were conversations among her senior advisors about this gentleman," he said on "Face the Nation." Cotton was speaking about Shahram Amiri, who gave information to the U.S. about Iran's nuclear program.

"That goes to show just how reckless and careless her decision was to put that kind of highly classified information on a private server. And I think her judgment is not suited to keep this country safe," he said.

AFAIK, Iran has not disclosed how they knew Shahram Amiri was a spy. So it is a leap - a very small one, IMO - to say Iran knew by way of The SHREW's email. At very best, this illustrates the potential danger Hillary created by using her own private email server; it may be much worse, there may be people who are dead or imprisoned due to The SHREW's arrogant choice to evade the Freedom of Information Act.

Looks like Sen. Cotton seems to have gotten it at least partly wrong as far as tying Amiri being charged with spying and being hanged to The SHREW's emails is concerned:

Shahram Amiri (Persian: شهرام امیری‎‎) (8 November 1977 – 3 August 2016) was an Iranian nuclear scientist who disappeared from Iran for a little over a year under disputed circumstances. He presumably was executed in Tehran. In the spring of 2009, he disappeared while apparently on a pilgrimage to Mecca, Saudi Arabia. About a year later two videos appeared, each purporting to be declarations by Amiri, but with contradictory stories. One showed him (or the person claiming to be him), stating that he had been kidnapped and tortured by Saudis and Americans; the other that he was in America of his own free will.

In July 2010, Shahram Amiri reappeared in Washington D.C. at the Iran interests section of the Embassy of Pakistan, seeking help to return to Tehran. Shortly thereafter he spoke at a press conference in Tehran telling journalists he had been kidnapped, tortured and bribed to cooperate with the CIA, but had refused.

In 2009, the Iranian government accused the US government of kidnapping him, while Iranian government media later reported that he was working for Iranian intelligence. After his return to Iran, American sources confirmed he arrived in, or was taken to, the United States with the help of the CIA, but insisted he had not been taken or kept against his will. ABC News and Haaretz newspaper suggested Amiri "wanted to seek asylum abroad." According to a 2011 report by NPR news, he "was believed to be an agent-in-place for the CIA," who decided "he wanted out of Iran", but once in the US "got cold feet" and "made his way back to Iran". Nevertheless, he was sentenced to serving out a ten year prison term after return. Despite this sentence, he was executed in August 2016, and his body was returned to his family with rope marks around his neck.

IOW, there was at least some degree of public knowledge, at the time of Amiri's return, that he was probably tied to the CIA in some way. Whether her emails may have confirmed those beliefs (by contradicting the kidnap story) and led to his execution instead of serving out his 10 year sentence remains very possible.
