I have always despised those folks that wrap themselves in the flag...

...and proclaim that they are much better Americans than you or I.

Now, it seems to me that it was mostly for show. I'm not sure that they ever loved our country?

Their support of Donald Trump has caused me to look at them with a different lens. How can they love our country and support such a person?

I feel like Paul Revere. I fight the urge to get the largest flag I can find and run up and down the street yelling, "The fascists are coming!"

I do not want to see my country go down like this.

Kentuck doesn't want to see his country go down like this.  Maybe it's time to check out, kentuck?  Maybe you owe yourself a trip to Switzerland?

Trump caught them with their pants down.  Palestinian flags, Soviet flags, rainbow flags, but no American flags on the first day of the convention.  Trump called them out on it which sent them desperately scrambling around Philadelphia gathering up every flag they could beg, steal, or borrow:

U.S. Flags Disappear From Atop Philadelphia City Hall, City Official Says They Were Added To DNC Stage

And probably most disturbing of all, the democrats had flags set up before the convention started, took them down for the first day, then set them back up again when the lack of flags was noticed.

Update: After we published, and thanks to a reader, we came across photos from the day before the convention, July 24, that showed flags on the wings of the stage. Here is a photo of the flags from Josh Haner of the New York Times:

So the flags were in place before the convention started and removed for the first day ... but reappeared on July 26. We still haven't heard back from the DNC explaining what happened.

After it was noticed, they wrapped themselves in the flag and proclaim that they are much better Americans than you or I.

4. It seems that they may love America that doesn't exist, maybe never has.

They don't share your respect for the nation, particularly at the federal level.

It really seems their America is an America without what most of us think of as America--a central government of the federation of states strong enough to guarantee rights and protect citizens from enemies, criminals and exploiters both foreign -and domestic-.

Their America is open to 'states rights' and sovereign personal rights, free from federal 'interference'. It's an America of tough independent yeoman (aka gun-toting disaffected loners) who in their dreams kick the ass of anything and everything that's in their way.

Yes, what they love isn't a nation but a national dream-state. A nation populated by very free men in which each man is at liberty to pursue a guilt-free life, independently, according to the personal audacity of their choices of self-serving ignorance, treachery and bigotry.

Their America is reflected in our Hollywood past... those movies about privateering buccaneers, moon-shiners and emperors of boardwalks. It's an America beloved and apparently longed for across low and high levels of society... from Cliven Bundy to Roger Ailes.
That bolded part is a pretty good short summation of what conservatives think the central government should be, primitive--not the cradle to grave, life of Julia socialist utopia that leftists want.

7. They love the America where they were the only privliged people.

and they could look at the masses and say "Whew, glad that's not me."

I read the posts by the primitives and say that I'm glad that's not me.
We will make America strong again. We will make America proud again. We will make America safe again. And we will make America great again.

I read the posts by the primitives and say that I'm glad that's not me.

My wife, parents, daughter, and I all agree with that sentiment (it's not me). :whistling:

I guess kt learned that Snopes got caught lying in their debunker of this missing flags story.

Personally, at first I thought it was not a big deal, but the revelation that flags had been there the day before but were removed for the first day changes what I thought was a stupid omission into a calculated insult.

Given the ubiquity of cell phone cameras and video being posted on the Internet, I don't understand how the Ds or Snopes thought they could get away with their insult and their attempted deception.

Than you?  Most Illegals are, bug wit.

You see, you missed out on the hippy dippy 60's and it's been a burning desire of yours to denigrate anything this country does, unless it involves fReEsHit!!1111!  You would proudly wrap yourself up in a made-up flag from a never existed country because all the self-appointed cool half-wits do.

Get over yourself.  You're stupid and you're shit.

...and you know it.  :bigbird:

Liberal thinking is a two-legged stool and magical thinking is one of the legs, the other is a combination of self-loating and misanthropy.  To understand it, you would have to be able to sit on that stool while juggling two elephants, an anvil and a fragmentation grenade, sans pin.

I love the America where people treat a symbol that so many have died for with respect.  The only reason you would burn a flag or even disrespect it is because you WANT to hurt someone else.  That is the only reason.

Just Maybe if you treated people with respect they might be more willing to entertain your ideas for America.  I'm not going to listen if you are disrespecting a symbol I love.

This sentence jumped out at me.  He's equating "nation" with "government."  Very telling.

To strive to be very free men at liberty to pursue a guilt-free life, independently, according to the personal audacity of our individual choices, is more than just laudable. It is ethical. It is moral. It is honorable. It is noble.

In short, everything you (D)Ummmies are not (including men).

self-serving ignorance, treachery and bigotry.

And that is why you attached those smear words to the idea. In the little bizarro world you (D)Ummies live in, morals ethics honor and nobility are not things to be encouraged or complimented, they are things to condemn, indict, and crucify.

Look at your candidate for example, fools. Every vote for Madam Stumpy is a vote that proves that what I just said is spot on.
