1. The failure of multiculturalism. Instead of people immigrating here and adopting American habits and sensibilities, they are now arriving and joining ethnic conclaves with no effort to assimilate to the foreign "-American" culture. I fear that this is going to hit us soon and hard. If illegal hispanic immigrants were assimilating, normalizing their status wouldn't be such an issue.
2. Tax policy. The current climate of the United States in regards to corporate tax policy is forcing our corporations to headquarter overseas and discouraging the creation of new corporations within our borders. This is easily addressed, but it won't be so ho-hum...
3. The "War on Poverty". Our efforts to eradicate poverty within our borders has, at the cost of over one trillion dollars, produced only more poverty. Further it has concentrated poverty, creating crime ridden ghettos and effectively destroyed the American family unit.
4. The "War on Drugs". For yet another Trillion dollar expenditure, it hasn't worked. Like alcohol prohibition before the war on drugs, everyone knows where to go to score some weed. It has created tremendous revenue for "street gangs" that are just the same as the mob. It has led to the invention of the "no-knock" method of serving a warrant, which is just asking to get people killed. Drugs may be bad, this may be worse.
5. Government over-regulation. The government passes laws, laws, and more laws. There are even cases where the same level of government passes to sets of regulation at the same time that are contradictory. The government has no problem passing laws that are a direct infringement on personal freedom, see all the smoking bans. The government will fine an oil well $50,000 for spilling one cup of oil while transferring from a storage tank to a truck, while spraying used oil on the road less than three miles away to keep the dust down. Government mandates, often at the behest of lobbyist, are creating massive problems for businesses.
6. The media. It may be protected by the first amendment, but it's outright advocacy for socialist programs should be reigned in.
7. Academia. All those failed communists from the sixties never could function in the real world. Now there stench emanated from the universities academic departments where they fill impressionable young minds with all manner of filth.
8. Environmentalists, communists, oil states, and oil-companies. I have this suspicious feeling that they are tied together, perhaps the oil companies and states funding the environmentalists, in collusion to keep oil prices high. I don't have proof, just what I think.
9. New-Age Leftists. Go ahead, ask that little idiot who that guy (Che) on his shirt is. Ask him if they know what he did. Ask them if they know what he would do to them. Blank stares, and deer in the headlights looks. Of course this is my own personal poll.
10. Oprah Winfrey. She has taught millions of idiots to act on their "feelings", no matter how wrong or deluded their emotions may be.
