AFAIK, this is true. I think the primitives wan't to add "unless you are a Jackal, then all jury duties and alert abilities are stripped from your account." as a rider on the TOS of some sort.

It's almost surreal that DU has spun off a bigoted pro-Trump hate site.
   
Don't get me wrong, it's a good thing, and been a long time coming. You know the feeling when your stomach really hurts and then you drop an enormous number 2 and suddenly it feels like you're alive again, now that whatever you ate that was sitting toxically in your bowels is no longer diffusing through your intestine lining and poisoning your bloodstream? Yeah, that's the one.

Still, these were "our friends and neighbors", and by cleverly disguising their bigotry and right-wing inclinations, the were able to contribute to one of the most progressive sites on the web, for years. This isn't anything-goes reddit, it's DU, where I've come for almost 15 years now for reliably intelligent and liberal takes on politics and current events. Now, unmasked, we find that a number of our former forum-mates are (among other things) enthusiastic about using the c-word and passionate in their advocacy for Donald Trump. Who knew? I had suspicions, but the ugliness is beyond what even I expected.

Anyway, here's to DU, and to another 15 years of the intelligent progressive discussion, and fighting the good fight.
