niiiice, baby. :whatever:

yes, my hard drive crashed out last saturday afternoon.  I thought I was totally prepared, having religiously backed
my stuff up on a USB drive for several years, but when it came time to try to restore three years worth of budets,
project timelines, scope of work documents, and assorted personal stuff . . . . the rebuilt laptop wouldn't recognize
the flash drive.

I became unhinged. :-)

after a good bit of dealing with it, I discovered that the flash drive wasn't making a good connection . . . blah, blah.

it finally worked out.

and I would like to thank Schad for gloating over my obvious pain. :whatever: :-)

:uhsure:  <---- included this guy just because she likes him.

It usually starts around WE's age when the drive and the disc aren't always compatible.

I gotta get me one of those light switchplates. That's just funny!!!

WE, you need to get something besides a flash drive. I finally coughed up the dough for a My Book terabyte storage unit. Works great. I just hope I never have to use it.

No, my friends, there’s only one really progressive idea. And that is the idea of legally limiting the power of the government. That one genuinely liberal, genuinely progressive idea — the Why in 1776, the How in 1787 — is what needs to be conserved. We need to conserve that fundamentally liberal idea. That is why we are conservatives. --Bill Whittle

it was a 6GB flash drive that I got way back when they were "the latest thing".  it looks a lot like a zippo cigarette lighter.  I honest to God FREAKED when I thought I couldn't recover my LIFE from that thing.  I dutifully keep EVERYTHING in the same directory, just so I only have to backup one folder . . .

of course, being a lazy ass, I did have a bunch of stuff on my desktop that I DIDN'T back up that I lost.  and a lot of that was technical CC server stuff.  but I can recreate that.

When I get a new computer, I plan on setting the current one up as a file server/mirrored backup.  I have a donated 3com router and switch I can use to set up a small network.
If you want to worship an orange pile of garbage with a reckless disregard for everything, get on down to Arbys & try our loaded curly fries.
