I have to disown my sister...she did the most unthinkable thing EVER...
Advertisements [?]...my mom told me that she took all the cats she and her husband had accumulated (because they refused to spend the money to have them spayed/neutered) and dropped them off at the dump...all 7 of them...one of the little darlings only had three legs. All my cats were once strays that someone else threw away....how she and I share the same blood is BEYOND me.

She is a self proclaimed CHRISTIAN and she sees me as a heathen bordering on possibly bein' the anti-christ because of my views (which in an extreme emotional state of complete mental exhaustion in early January of 2001..I screamed at her in her church parking lot and she had me detained in a psych ward for a week over that instead of thrown in jail) but I let that go and forgave her...I don't think I'll ever be able to forgive her for this...nor look her in the face again.

1. I've never understood how a person could do such a thing
Can't say as I blame you - she sounds like a piece of work.

Coinicidentally, my daughter disowned me today which was no real surprise (or loss unfortunately). She's gone to the Dark Side - Republican trailer-trash*.

Do you know if anyone rescued the kitties?

*apologies to Oedi and others who live or have lived in mobile homes - I mean it strictly in the negative slang sense.

18. She's my only sibling...and she's always been hateful.....
...I think her brain damage goes back to having to take care of me when my parents weren't around...she still resents me for it to this day.

9. Oh dear God
I think I would have to break off ties with someone like that, AND report them for animal cruelty.
Interesting point, why didn't she report this?

19. If I'd known about it beforehand I would have reported her for it...
...unfortuately I didn't know and I'm sure she wouldn't want me to know about it now...knowing how I feel about my own cats.

A couple of people suggest reporting the sister, but somehow there is always a reason she can't.

She probably can't report the sister, because it's highly likely it's not true.

It could be, but my radar expresses skepticism.

The primitive is only posting that and looking for favorable responses. I'll bet the OP doesn't have the guts to confront or disown anyone.

I have to agree with you Frank, something sounds fishy. Somebody is mad at her sister and is making things up to vent her anger, perhaps.

The correct original quotation is "Remember, DUmmies lie.  All the time, DUmmies lie."

The correct current quotation is "Remember, primitives lie.  All the time, primitives lie."

Either one is acceptable; one can pick and use.

I don't have the patience for these types of threads anymore.  Go ahead you stupid f*cker, disown your sister.  See how you feel when something terrible happens to her or how your Mom feels during the holidays.

I know the laws.  This is not easy to accomplish.  The DUmmie must have done more than yell.  The DUmmie probably saw the Light of the Lord in her sister's eyes and then went into satanistic fits in the church parking lot (writhing and screaming and clawing herself; spitting up pea soup; head did a 360; growled at her sister saying their "mother sews socks that smell").

I think, Frank, there was a bit of truth there, She said, the damage [to their relationship] started when she had to take care of her...

Of course the older sister had to take care of teh younger, and prob'ly was a leftist even then. Take take take. The older sister got fed up with the whining and broke the relationship with the needy whiny DUmmie.

Ah.... her sister is a Christian.... that explains everything.  :whatever:

The part about the cats was merely a lie tossed in to gain sympathy....this woman's real problem with her sister is that she goes to Church.

No, my friends, there’s only one really progressive idea. And that is the idea of legally limiting the power of the government. That one genuinely liberal, genuinely progressive idea — the Why in 1776, the How in 1787 — is what needs to be conserved. We need to conserve that fundamentally liberal idea. That is why we are conservatives. --Bill Whittle

These people kill me, Schade.  I've been to a few different conservative sites, and I've never seen one of us start threads talking about disowning or being disowned by family members, especially over politics or personal philosophy.  Only at DU have I EVER seen someone calling their own daughter "trailer trash" because of who she votes for.  Unbelievable.  These people are completely unqualified to speak of family, love, or tolerance.   ::) ::) ::) ::) ::) ::)

I witnessed the birth of Bouncy Ball (the one and only) at a forum many years ago. It became clear to me at this little parenting site that was infested with granola moms, that embellishing or flat lying about something is acceptable if political points could be made. Their arguments on their own merits are weak and don't stand up to annoying little things like facts.

My sister faked a suicide attempt when she was having problems with her second baby's daddy.  It took my parents two days to track her dumb ass down.  When they finally got to her in the psych ward she commented, "Gee, there are some really crazy people in here."

The response can be summed up with, "Gee, ya think?"

That woman may as well be a DUmmie, she isn't capable of supporting hersself and her kids but, that hasn't stopped her from causing immense pain to her family.  That being said, if she picked up the phone and called me for help, she would get it.

True story...
My Mother-in-laws neighbors are union supporting democrats who don't go to church.  They HATE Bush and think he is the worst thing ever.  They had 2 indoor cats for years and years.  One day she decided she didn't want to have to clean up after them anymore and took them to the pound.  She told them at the pound that the cats were violent so they couldn't be adopted.  She just wanted them put to sleep for free.  She told me all of this.  I was shocked because I have never known anyone to do that before.
All the great things are simple, and many can be expressed in a single word: freedom, justice, honor, duty, mercy, hope.
Winston Churchill
