Judge Richard Posner: ‘No value’ in studying the U.S. Constitution
http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2016/jun/27/richard-posner-no-value-in-studying-us-constitutio/

Quote
Seventh Circuit Judge Richard Posner sees “absolutely no value” in studying the U.S. Constitution because “eighteenth-century guys” couldn’t have possibly foreseen the culture and technology of today.

In a recent op-ed for Slate, Judge Posner, a senior lecturer at the University of Chicago Law School, argued that the original Constitution, the Bill of Rights, and the post–Civil War amendments “do not speak to today.”

“I see absolutely no value to a judge of spending decades, years, months, weeks, day, hours, minutes, or seconds studying the Constitution, the history of its enactment, its amendments, and its implementation (across the centuries — well, just a little more than two centuries, and of course less for many of the amendments),” he wrote. “Eighteenth-century guys, however smart, could not foresee the culture, technology, etc., of the 21st century.”

Let's just abolish the Constitution and Bill of Rights while we're at it!  :mental:

No surprise coming from dumb leftists.

It's quite amazing that we have elected judges that don't give a darn about the Constitution...and we wonder why this country is in such a mess.
I believe in the United States of America as a government of the people, by the people, for the people; whose just powers are derived from the consent of the governed, a democracy in a republic, a sovereign Nation of many sovereign States; a perfect union, one and inseparable; established upon those principles of freedom, equality, justice, and humanity for which American patriots sacrificed their lives and fortunes. I therefore believe it is my duty to my country to love it, to support its Constitution, to obey its laws, to respect its flag, and to defend it against all enemies.

Hmmm...words escape me.

Is this a common problem?   :rotf:      :yahoo: Sorry.  I couldn't resist.  It's been one of those days.

Isn't that the same "university" that Obama claimed to be a law professor at?

A Reagan appointee, has been on the court nearly half his life. I guess he's not as sharp as he once was, or maybe has simply lost touch with the world in which normal people live and work. He needs some firsthand reminders of how valuable his free speech, religious, and property rights are.
If The Vaccine is deadly as anti-Covid-vaxxers claim, millions now living would have died.

According to Posner's Wiki article, he is the most-cited legal jurist of all time. And he's an economist to boot, though one critic described his command of economics as "precarious."

Hell, if he can't get supply and demand down, God only knows about his command of the law. He apparently suffers from diarrhea of the pen, too. The guy writes all the time, even when he doesn't have anything to say.  :whatever:
