I'm too old for this ****!
« on: June 27, 2016, 10:20:34 AM »
Last weekend I had to work on the exhaust on the car. It was up on ramps, but I'm not as young as I used to be.

I pulled a hamstring in my right leg.

I've never heard of a pulled hamstring causing such awful bruising!  Heal up quickly!

Which is part of the reason why looking up symptoms on the net scares the bejeesus out of me.  I'm not a hypochondriac, but the few times I've inquired about a small bruise or rash a potential cause always ends up to be leprosy or something awful.

I was fairly sure from the symptoms what it was, but I wanted to see some worst-case scenarios.

I messed up by trying to completely ignore it for several days acting normally.

If I tried to act normal everyone would know something is really wrong! :)

Should have iced it right away....just sayin'.
I believe in the United States of America as a government of the people, by the people, for the people; whose just powers are derived from the consent of the governed, a democracy in a republic, a sovereign Nation of many sovereign States; a perfect union, one and inseparable; established upon those principles of freedom, equality, justice, and humanity for which American patriots sacrificed their lives and fortunes. I therefore believe it is my duty to my country to love it, to support its Constitution, to obey its laws, to respect its flag, and to defend it against all enemies.

I didn't even notice any pain for a day or two, just a slight pull when I first did it.

It was worse this morning than it has been.  I'll be going to an Express Care clinic for the local hospital in a little while. Getting old really sucks.

I went to a clinic ran by the local hospital on Saturday. I think the doctor at the clinic punked me.

She gave me some stretches and exercises to do a few times a day. I woke up this morning sorer and more tight than before.

Went back to the same place yesterday since the swelling and pain now goes fro, midthigh to the ankle with big yellow/green bruises spread down the leg.

Doctor's prescribed and written treatment rest, keep leg elevated as much as possible and take the 3 medications as prescribed.

Went by work today, shop foreman says the written treatment isn't good enough for missing work,   I have to go back to see the same doctor tomorrow, just to have him write a note that I shouldn't work this weekend.

Another billing to the insurance company.

I've called my local urgent care and asked them to fax a revised work excuse to my HR (I wanted to go back to work a day before the excuse allowed). They did it no problem. Are you sure they won't do something like that? If not fax it to where you work, maybe they will just have one left for you at the front desk. Just tell them you forgot to ask for a work excuse.

My workplace is messed up. They have no problem with letting a person take unpaid time, but if it's injury or some other sickness, they they want a note from a doctor.   :hammer:
