We all knew it, but now it becomes even more obvious that there is no way to reason with the hardcore leftists. They are going to say and believe what is politically expedient, no matter how far-fetched, counterfactual, and no matter what mental gymnastics are required (see the ACLU's response to this incident), and you are either going to agree with them, or face their wrath. They will find a way to blame the right for this.
