Sheesh.Just, by accident one day, spill a cup of coffee on it. While it's plugged in.A coca cola would be even better, it's corrosive.
Kidding aside, the garish paint job is part of the entire picture of it being a game console, doing any 'Surprise redecorating' ala various TV shows would in all likelihood be very poorly received.
SagittariusNovember 22 - December 21You may feel as if people have turned against you today, dear Sagittarius, and that they have suddenly lost interest in what you have to say. Maybe this is a reflection of your own inability to truly listen to someone else talking. Look at the collective picture, and open your eyes to the world around you. Get involved on a community level instead of only focusing on yourself all the time.
They could certainly make something much more attractive in a contemporary way, it's just a casing around the real working parts, but it would not have the same appeal because there is a major nostalgia factor to the big colorful cabinetry.
you have a GORGEOUS home! It's exactly my taste. I'm very picky about things that don't "belong" though. That game thing would never make it back in if it were me.
I have to agree with DB....I'd do everything I could to keep it out of there.Sure it can't fit into the media room? After all it is a type of media... Your home is beautiful.
Okay, I would never paint or wallpaper the actual game. How about building some sort of case to fit down the sides and over the top? So then maybe it would have a "built in" feel to it?
Quote from: Lord Undies on July 31, 2008, 12:25:57 PMId have to see photos to make a judgment on whether or not you are being unreasonable. You maybe making a BMX Mountain Bike game out of a Whack-a-Molehill. im really not.. i'll send you a pm with a link to what it looks like. its big. just like at an arcade, the full size. three guys can easily stand around it and play.. maybe four if one of them is taller. the room would be so much nicer without the game, but its a fun thing for the boys (young and old) and i certainly dont want to take it away. ive never even threatened to do that. i'm just trying to get a compromise...

I want to see....send it to me.Edit: Ok I just found it. Your house is beautiful (as I've told you before). As a casual observer I would say that it doesn't look that bad but if I lived in the house it would be out of the room. It would drive me nuts as the kitchen/family room are the rooms you see the most. I can't believe you are even offering to just "cover it" as I know how strong willed you are. I would demand it have its own room.
My husband has a major game/car fetish.. I let him indulge to his hearts desire and right now it is backfiring on me. He has a full size arcade, in our living room. Our beautiful deco living room, and its really just butt ugly But the guys around here love it and they play it a lot. So, I dont want to take it away from the main play area, but I offered to recover it in some funky fabric and he said "NO." I think HE is being unreasonable ... its a nice compromise to my mind. This is my dream home and I love the view from the kitchen to the family room (its all one big open space) and that arcade just ruins it for me. He knows this, and he agrees... but he wont budge on changing the facade of the six foot 4 hulking machine next to our floor to ceiling river rock fire place. He said I'm being snotty...

I would love an arcade in my homespace. As it is, I have a bunch of dead animal heads and bodies adorning our walls. That and a bunch of doodads that .... nevermind, I can't say it, it is too mean.

Find the room that is least used and seen and stick it in there. My childhood friend (you met him - Brent) was talking about his Man Room after the funeral at my uncles house. He was talking about how he loved to go to that room and watch ESPN all by himself. I said Kevin's Man Room has a 14' sewing machine in it and if I were married to him he too would have my $hit in his Man Room. P.S. I think Brent has the hots for me, he kept saying, "You look really really good." "No, I'm serious....really good."
