Sheesh.
Just, by accident one day, spill a cup of coffee on it.  While it's plugged in.
A coca cola would be even better, it's corrosive.

thats just mean! i dont want it gone, i just want it to look better. but i do like the spillin idea... maybe some paint?

Kidding aside, the garish paint job is part of the entire picture of it being a game console, doing any 'Surprise redecorating' ala various TV shows would in all likelihood be very poorly received.

yeah, i get that... he would not be amused..

and here is my horoscope for today :-)

You may feel as if people have turned against you today, dear Sagittarius, and that they have suddenly lost interest in what you have to say. Maybe this is a reflection of your own inability to truly listen to someone else talking. Look at the collective picture, and open your eyes to the world around you. Get involved on a community level instead of only focusing on yourself all the time.

here's the room today - we had some warrantly work done in the house and the game had to be moved upstairs by four guys.. its just on the landing, but its coming back downstairs after the work is done..

http://flickr.com/photos/jeffsand/2719993223/

but see how neat and tidy this looks? why cant they make a game case that goes with a real living room instead of being so garish and bright?

they can make fun things look cool too... cant they?

They could certainly make something much more attractive in a contemporary way, it's just a casing around the real working parts, but it would not have the same appeal because there is a major nostalgia factor to the big colorful cabinetry.

you have a GORGEOUS home! It's exactly my taste. I'm very picky about things that don't "belong" though. That game thing would never make it back in if it were me.  :uhsure: :-)

No, my friends, there’s only one really progressive idea. And that is the idea of legally limiting the power of the government. That one genuinely liberal, genuinely progressive idea — the Why in 1776, the How in 1787 — is what needs to be conserved. We need to conserve that fundamentally liberal idea. I have to agree with DB....I'd do everything I could to keep it out of there.

Sure it can't fit into the media room? After all it is a type of media... :whatever:

Okay, I would never paint or wallpaper the actual game.  How about building some sort of case to fit down the sides and over the top?  So then maybe it would have a "built in" feel to it?

thank you as well :-) And no, I tried to wedge it in somewhere upstairs. there is a big L shaped couch and its perfect for about two to four people to watch movies or play Rock Band, comfortably. we didnt want anything big enough to have a lot of friends over though.. :-)

i think i finally get it. my husband just tells me "no" without benefit of giving me a decent reason.

i didnt grow up playing or coveting video games, so, he never explained that to me.

the nostalgia is the big part for him... he is going to be very happy i asked you guys  :-)

Id have to see photos to make a judgment on whether or not you are being unreasonable.  You maybe making a BMX Mountain Bike game out of a Whack-a-Molehill.

im really not.. i'll send you a pm with a link to what it looks like. its big. just like at an arcade, the full size.

three guys can easily stand around it and play.. maybe four if one of them is taller.

the room would be so much nicer without the game, but its a fun thing for the boys (young and old) and i certainly dont want to take it away. ive never even threatened to do that.

i'm just trying to get a compromise...

I want to see....send it to me.

Edit:  Ok I just found it.  Your house is beautiful (as I've told you before).  As a casual observer I would say that it doesn't look that bad but if I lived in the house it would be out of the room.  It would drive me nuts as the kitchen/family room are the rooms you see the most.  I can't believe you are even offering to just "cover it" as I know how strong willed you are.   :p    I would demand it have its own room.

well, not only do i not get that choice, jeff is actually thinking of adding another arcade to the space  :thatsright:

at least its not too noisy, but youre right, i am strong willed (cause i think he has no sense of taste!) but for the most part, he lets me do what i want... but it all turns out rather masculine in the end cause i dont like trendy pieces or things that are uncomfortable. you have no idea how many dining room tables and chairs ive bought and sold...  :cheersmate:

I would love an arcade in my homespace. As it is, I have a bunch of dead animal heads and bodies adorning our walls.

That and a bunch of doodads that .... nevermind, I can't say it, it is too mean.  :evillaugh:

My husband has a major game/car fetish.. I let him indulge to his hearts desire and right now it is backfiring on me.

He has a full size arcade, in our living room. Our beautiful deco living room, and its really just butt ugly  :-) But the guys around here love it and they play it a lot. So, I dont want to take it away from the main play area, but I offered to recover it in some funky fabric and he said "NO."

I think HE is being unreasonable ... its a nice compromise to my mind.

This is my dream home and I love the view from the kitchen to the family room (its all one big open space) and that arcade just ruins it for me. He knows this, and he agrees... but he wont budge on changing the facade of the six foot 4 hulking machine next to our floor to ceiling river rock fire place.

He said I'm being snotty...   :banghead:
Hey! AT least he didn't install a urinal as well! :-)

I didn't mean actually build a room.  Find the room that is least used and seen and stick it in there.  My childhood friend (you met him - Brent) was talking about his Man Room after the funeral at my uncles house.  He was talking about how he loved to go to that room and watch ESPN all by himself.  I said Kevin's Man Room has a 14' sewing machine in it and if I were married to him he too would have my $hit in his Man Room.   :p

P.S.  I think Brent has the hots for me, he kept saying, "You look really really good."  "No, I'm serious....really good."

Well you would have to know how we grew up.  We were next door neighbors, our Mom's were best friends.  He was a year younger than me.  He was a perverted child who constantly would try to play "postman" or "doctor" with me.  Once he even drew "down there" on me with a magic marker.  Every time my Mom would see him (since we were teens) she would throw a magic marker at him, it is now a joke.  I don't want to give you the wrong impression of him, we were literally best friends growing up.  He got punched in the throat by another boy because of me once when we were younger.  He stole a big wheel for me once and wrote my name all over it and gave it to me as a present.  I had to return it to the poor kid who he had taken it from after we scrubbed it.  He hadn't seen me in years.  Perhaps he was expecting something a little different than what he saw.  Oh to make matters worse, when he was saying this to me my husband was sitting about 5 feet from me.
