Protesters failed to stop Trump from getting to the event. Trump's convoy stopped on Highway 101 Northbound behind the hotel and he went through the fence and entered the hotel.

The Bay Trail is close to and parallels US 101 along much of the peninsula. My guess is that Trump used that. If so, that the thugs apparently didn't know of it would be suggestive of non-local organizing and of many/most of the thugs being non-local.

Various parts of the Bay Trail are used for races and by local runners.

The hotel they went to is down at the Broadway street overpass. There's construction work being done in the back of the hotel and the fence between the the building and the freeway has been taken down. There is video on KTVU channel 2 news showing Trump and his entourage walking from the freeway into the hotel.
