tim. On the restaurant's side, if its well managed, the food cost is on the order of 30% of the cost of a meal. So an ample portion costs the restaurant a lot less than an dissatisfied customer. On this diner's side, I limit how much I eat, take home what I don't, and sometimes split that into two more meals. Most of the time I eat a whole restaurant portion it's the evening or day after a 10K or half marathon.
My "unscientific observation" is that I see a lot of departing diners carrying take-out leftovers. IOW, more Americans, "know what's good for them," than Libs/Progs believe to be the case..
