I saw the same thing on a thread years ago, but that argument took it all the way back to Lincoln. The argument was, Lincoln was actually a Democrat and a liberal, therefore, Democrats freed the slaves.

Liberals disgust me.

Such is the liberal way. It goes even further though. Policies they hate when a Republican is responsible, they love when a Democrat is. They hate executive order abuse, until they are reminded that FDR is the reigning champion of that policy, then its 'for the good of the country'. The same is true with 'Government shutdown' until they are reminded that Tip O'Neill shut down the government almost yearly under both Carter and Reagan. Then it magically becomes a good deed.

Being a liberal means never admitting one is wrong. Ever.

Projecting the current "Liberal" and "Conservative" paradigms with regard to political parties farther back than the 1960s is foolishness (maybe not even as far back as the mid-1960s).

The foreign policies of JFK, Truman, FDR, and Wilson were as or more "aggressive" and "nationalist" or (bogeyman-of-the-month-ist) as any R.

Modern Rs support civil rights for all - regardless of race - as much or more now as they did in the 1850s and 1860s.

The Ds are the newcomers to civil rights for all, and are too foolish to realize that their social policies - i.e. social programs - have harmed blacks far more than the KKK ever dreamed of doing.
