goodwords (3,901 posts) Wed Mar 30, 2016, 08:03 PMBernie has a bad ass Audi R8! Thought he was a socialist or whatever? after which photographic evidence that the senile socialist does indeed have such a car
daemons (4,686 posts) Wed Mar 30, 2016, 08:30 PM2. Even if it wasn't photoshop.......... There's nothing about Democratic Socialism that would preclude one from owning a nice car. Lots of people in Denmark, Sweden, and Norway own very nice cars. Are people really that clueless about the differences between Socialism and Communism? They're different. I know most RW-ers don't understand how they're different.
762Justice (5,454 posts) Wed Mar 30, 2016, 09:33 PM10. There is definitely something different about Danes, Swedes, and Norwegians, too. Socialism works well for them. It works for a select few other countries also. Which countries does it work for? Countries where the general feeling of the people is that they are proud to work hard, and put money in the pot. When a very high percentage of the country is focused on putting money in, and lifting everyone up, it works for them. Can you honestly say that the US shares this feeling at the rate the Danes and Swedes do? If you can, your eyes are not open. We have far too large of a percentage of the population that is more interested in getting money out of the pot. Won't work for us. If everyone pulls the rope, the rock moves. We have too many people who are fine with sleeping on the rock.
Ben_Ghazi (2,573 posts) Wed Mar 30, 2016, 09:24 PM6. nobody as old as bernie should be driving. Especially that car. Folks almost 8 decades old generally don't have the vision or reflexes to avoid accidents,
frank, you may be being too kind to The Bern. The car this Man of the People drives starts at $162,900. I wonder how many people in Vermont paid less than that for their homes! Even in pricey Silicon Valley, $163K would be an impressive down payment! On a single-family, detached home (i.e. not a townhouse or condo)!
Roger Cavu (5,085 posts) Thu Mar 31, 2016, 10:12 AM24. So just to be sure No conflict with Bernie owning a 100,000 [sic] dollar car that seats two, gets abut 10 mph, and is wholly made outside this country when balanced against his platform for president on elitism, trade and climate change?
uncledad (610 posts) Wed Mar 30, 2016, 09:11 PM5. It's a Bernie bennie. Socialism does not require a vow of poverty.
Bob the Bilderberger (2,064 posts) Wed Mar 30, 2016, 10:50 PM14. But it results in poverty for those paying your bills
Paradigm (2,630 posts) Wed Mar 30, 2016, 09:30 PM8. He's a 1%er. Socialist for thee, not for me.
Bob the Bilderberger (2,064 posts) Wed Mar 30, 2016, 10:49 PM13. Anything's possible ... when someone else is paying for it
Well, as the whole world knows (but whether or not it's considered "relevant" is up in the air), Methuselah's been pretty much a ne'er-do-well all his working life, never holding down what most consider a "real job."He has not the means to buy a $163,000 car.I think the old grouch owes it to the public, to tell us who bought the vehicle for him.
