Jeep Plows Into Protesters in Fountain Hills [Protesters Blocking Trump Rally Access]

Source: ABC 15 Arizona

Coverage of blockade of route to Trump Rally in Arizona

Jeep plows into protesters in Fountain Hills. Traffic backed up for miles due to protesters in Fountain Hills. More at link - they are covering via tweets, Live. Does not appear anyone is injured.

Not a very good plow job is no one was hurt.

Blocking the road is a criminal offense. Wonder is any arrests were made?

4. I don't like this tactic

Has the same aroma as Bridge gate andd it's messing up the lives of all drivers on the highway, not just Drumpf supporters.

Plus, NOT suppressing the access to information, even heinous stuff, is a fundamentally part of our Founding, so it is important and I'm not an ends justify the means believer and this could trigger unintended consequences, as Republican turn out seems to be larger and more enthusiastic than us Dems?

But, then again, in this day and age of intentionally misleading groups and Atwater-rove rat ****ing is now politics as usual, they could have been hired by his campaign? Nice times we live in, this Oligarchy.

7. Glad no one was hurt, but please

stop trying to block Trump - let him carry on he is doing his own damage and the repubs are turning on him in droves anyway.

If you want to protest do so outside the place trump is speaking but be careful and please don't go inside and get hurt, it doesn't do you any good, but gets the already stirred up trump supporters wanting blood.

9. just building Trump voters

Used to be you showed your displeasure for a candidate in the voting booth. Now you disrupt public access for everyone, not Trump blocking a major access freeway. This road serves a lot more than a route to a rally. Access to numerous hospitals, businesses and homes. It dissallows access for all, Democrat, Republican, Indies, Black, Hispanic, White etc.

I am hispanic, but when I see a live feed from this 'protest' with participants displaying a Mexican country flag to protest an American election. All I see is in the miles backup of vehicles and TV watchers a possibility for a lot of undecided, swing or even dedicated party voters thinking about voting for Trump.

I'll make my statement or protest on my ballot.

14. I see a lot people here don't really give a **** about the 1st Amendment

As long as we don't like what you have to say we can prevent you from hearing people we don't like or stop you from where you're going.

These people are too stupid to see they are making Trump stronger.

My wife was pregnant with our 4 month old late last year when she started bleeding profusely. We had to race to the hospital and ended up having an emergency c-section. If these Constitutionally illiterate dumb-asses were in my way I would plow through them too.

18. There is no "1st amendment" issue involved here at all.

Far from "making Trump stronger," this is the inevitable outcome when a troublemaker comes to town. There's trouble. If people are displeased, they have every right to express it in any way they like provided nobody gets injured. If the "revered" Arapio and the other wealthy bigots who live in the neighborhood are "inconvenienced," who cares? To read here how people shouldn't be "inconvenienced" in a traffic jam created by a troublemaker coming to town is beyond the pale.

See, folks. It's Trump's fault we are blocking traffic and acting like assholes. It's not our fault. He made us do this! It's for your own good!!!

Quote
NOVA_Dem (617 posts)
21. You sound like a Jim Crow Redneck..

When you talk about "trouble-makers" coming to town..

Who the hell are you to say what kind of inconvenience is acceptable to those on the highway? What if there was an ambulance or fire truck stuck behind those "dump trump" pick up trucks?

Here's a refresher on the 1st Amendment:

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.

That means the idiots on the way to the drumpf rally have a right to hear that pumpkin in a wig speak.

34. its about votes

How many will this change? How many that might have not bothered to vote Trump will this energize enough to push over the edge? Admittedly very few, but they will not be in our favor. And 3 arrests were made. They are probably out already, but they risk not being able to vote in the Tuesday primary. Or even in the general; who knows what Arpaio might concoct against them.

This is non-practical. And it's already been pointed out that it was also non-ethical and perhaps dangerous. Protest at the entrance of the rally and you have my support. Hell I might have joined in if I had a ride.

I respect your opinion and motivation, I just think it will backfire. And by the comments, that is the majority opinion here--which was the point of my post. I am glad that you registered your dissent though, it's still a new thread, I may be proved wrong in the end about the support for this.

From this article:

Quote
About 100 people blocked westbound lanes of Shea Boulevard near State Route 87, the Beeline Highway. Frustrated motorists began parking along the highway and walking toward the park where the rally was held.

Three miles away, the second group of about 200 people blocked eastbound lanes of Shea Boulevard near the entrance to Eagle Mountain. Three people there chained themselves to vehicles parked in the road.
...
At one point, a man driving a Jeep banged on his horn and drove into the crowd, forcing them to get out of the way or risk being run over. No one was hurt in the incident.
...
Law enforcement issued their first warning to the protesters blocking Shea Boulevard at about 10:20 a.m. They said they planned to give demonstrators two more warnings over about 10 minutes and if they did not vacate the roadway and allow traffic to pass, they would begin arresting the protesters.

Officials from the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office, Arizona Department of Public Safety and Fort McDowell Yavapai Nation then worked to systematically clear Shea Boulevard, a task that took little more than an hour to complete.

Sheriff’s deputies used bolt cutters to cut the chains from the three protesters who locked themselves to the doors of their vehicles. The two women and one man were taken away in plastic handcuffs. Police were seen towing a total of five vehicles that were blocking eastbound lanes of Shea Boulevard.

If the Trump-Haters were trying to convince Trump supporters and other Arizonans that they are lawless fruitcakes they could hardly chosen a more effective means, short of literal violence.

As for the guy in the jeep, clearly t2t's (or the TV station's) use of the phrase, "plowed into," was deceptive and tendentious. The guy drove slowly, and the protesters had the minimal sense to get out of his way. There is no other explanation for the fact that no one was injured. It was probably unwise, and the MSM will probably continue to lie about it.

US highways are not Federal territory. They are funded with Federal highway dollars, but they are state property for the purposes of traffic law.

Actually, I saw 3 police officers, and they are probably the reason the Trump-Hating idiots didn't pound on the Jeep or otherwise vandalize it and harass the Jeep driver.

At that point the driver can reasonably fear for his life engage the 4WD, turn on the windshield wipers and punch the gas.  :-)

Don Surber opined that these idiots made 300K new Trump voters. I think he may be too high by a factor of 2 or 3, but these idiots sure convinced many that Trump has been too kind in characterizing them.

If the cops hadn't been there, the protesters would probably have done more than "Harass" the driver; They'd have physically pulled him out of the jeep and beaten/ stomped him to death, all the while believing themselves to be champions of American liberty and freedom.

I couldn't believe this when I was watching it on TV.  You absolutely cannot block a roadway like that.  Why weren't more arrests not made?  Why wasn't it immediately broken up?  I'm surprised the backed-up people didn't get out of their cars and just swarm.

From the article I quoted:

While US60, I10, and I17 go through the Phoenix area, Highway 87 is a state highway, and Shea Blvd. is an artery street. Fountain Hills is east of Scottsdale.

I've told the story before but when the leftist agitators were blocking traffic about the Iraq war I got caught in one of these "protests."  I had a 59 Chevy Apache that was about five different colors but had a 454 in it. I could smoke the tires at will. Anyway I happened to be one of the two front vehicles. I watched a bunch of filthy leftists walk across the street and then stop to blockade the intersection. I waited a few minutes to see if they would disperse, they did not and started doing stupid chanting. Then I just laid on the 50's old school horns...constantly. That got their attention and they started to approach the truck. So I stepped on the brakes hard and smoked the tires for quite few seconds. You could hardly see and the smell rubber and exhaust was terrible. When I stepped off the gas and the smoke cleared the protestors had cleared the street and I took my hand off the horn and proceeded through with all of the other pissed of drivers. Don't know if they tried to shut it down again after that but I did get lots of anger, cursing, and fingers from the filthy terrorist hippies.....and decent and civilized people got to go about their day.

Liberals disgust me. (Now I don't have to remember to put it on each post).

Because only the left goes searching for that which is not there in a desperate attempt to be offended about something.
