Oh definitely. Saw that & "Crash" with ex wife. "Crash" was a better movie, and loved when it won Best Picture over Brokeback.
The DUmmies were very butt hurt by that outcome.
It was one of the weirdest things I've ever seen on DU. Suddenly, every conservative was supposed to feel shamed by the notion that not all cowboys are heterosexual, and it was well nigh time that we evil reTHUGS were shown true love between menfolk out on the range.
As if anyone gives a shit. I don't recall any of us saying, 'say, Ralph Wiggum, how's about PM'ing me your phone number, so's I can call you up and we can chat for a few hours about all the generations of cowboys prowling the West for centuries, none of whom were gay, no sir, not even one.' Not only do I not give a hang about GAY cowboys, I struggle to care about ANY cowboys, most particularly fictional ones from 50 years ago. Even so, somehow the whole mess was cathartic to DU. I think I recall one of them going so far as to say that it should be required viewing for high school kids.
Imagine being the market research firm bringing in a test audience to see clips of the latest in the most iconic film series in American history, and having to hear: "I don't buy it. You're telling me NONE of those people are GAY?"
ETA: As this is my 5,000th post, let me take this occasion to say, again, **** liberals.
