time to shape up
« on: March 02, 2016, 07:55:25 PM »
There seems to be a lot of hostility going on underneath the surface here at conservativecave, and probably it’d be a good idea if everyone stepped back and looked at what they’re doing, and saying.

I can’t believe we’re acting like a bunch of primitives here.

The problem of course is the competition for the Republican—i.e., conservative—nomination for the presidency.  There’s always been competition every four years, but I’ve never seen so much nastiness in the past, as now.

Many seem to have forgotten something; our ultimate goal is to get a Republican, or a conservative, elected, so that sanity and maturity can return to politics and government.

It isn’t to eat each other alive until only one of us is left, “king” of the “mountain.”

We need to be onslaughting Democrats, liberals, and primitives—as God knows, they give us plenty of ammunition—not other conservatives and Republicans.

I’d hoped, a year ago, that by now we’d have all these people boosting, promoting, publicizing, public-relationing, their own choices for the nomination…..instead of trashing competing candidates.

Oops.  Pollyanna got foiled again.

I announced my own personal choice for president back in early 2013, and I’ve been sticking with it, although silently.  After the way he was treated by the Democrats, liberals, and primitives during the election of 2012, I think Mitt Romney deserves a second chance at it, and with more support than what he had the first time around.

But that’s neither here nor there; this year, I saw an impressive array of Republican and conservative—and some good ones not so “conservative”—candidates; it’s been the closest thing to an all-star team we’ve had in a while.

I personally have, and had, no problems with any of the Republicans; they all have, or had, their own unique strengths and weaknesses, and I’d unhesitatingly vote for any of them; whoever ends up being the Republican nominee.

I just want to get the children out of Washington, and I don’t care who drives them out.

But we’re likely to be stuck with them another four miserable years, unless we stop fighting each other instead of Democrats, liberals, and primitives.  One should boost, promote, publicize, one’s own candidate, but it’s self-destructive for all of us to trash any of the others.

Get mellow, people.

Kind of reminds me of what went on with the Paulbots and everyone else at CU. Granted I only caught the tale end of that before the crash.

Yes, that is a real peril here.

I wonder if anyone's noticed the slow evaporation of long-time members, and I suspect it has to do with the general negativity and nastiness here.  This really has got to stop--not only for our sakes, but for the sake of the country as a whole.

There's no reason for people here to snipe at each other; they have plenty of reason to snipe at Democrats, liberals, and primitives.

But that was a long time ago now; I'm talking about recent (within the past 2-3 weeks) departures, some of them who'd been valuable members here.....and I'm detecting some imminent departures, too.

Hopefully some are just sitting out the primaries.

Most of the Ron Paul supporters showed up at CU as new members, simply to disrupt the board.  With the exception of one individual who is long gone and was encouraging them.

I've been told that my opinions don't matter and than I am not a conservative, a TRUE conservative if I support the candidate I feel is better for the country than another.

I told frank a while ago I was leaving due to this and he asked me to stay. I can't say if I will stay much longer. You want 'pure' party politics you can have them. I won't be here to disagree with you.

6. Yes. This person must have sneaked past security...

... without signing the loyalty oath.

If you say anything bad about HRH Cruz or Rubio... or Jeb! , you obviously can't be a Democrat true Conservative!

seems like some people have been taking lessons from others... not sure which way the shit flows though.

Agree.

I picked my candidate months ago, based on known actions and substantiated claims lending credence to statements of future policy.  I do not consider him to be the Second Coming of Ronaldus Magnus, who himself was just a man (well maybe one of the minor Valar, for my fellow Tolkien geeks); but he'll do.

The greater of several lesser goods, I suppose...

Point being I haven't been making a lot of noise about it.  My personality, I guess.  I made my choice, let others make theirs.  I get a vote, and I'll cast it this coming Tuesday, and then wait the results of the process.

Maybe my guy will pull it out.  Maybe another of the (four, now?) will take the prize.  No matter...for me, November will be about Defeating the Democrat.

So go ahead, fellow voters and party members, hacks, and all manner of similarly-minded humanity.  Nominate a wet sock, and I'll vote for it in November.

But I'm kinda hoping for Cruz....sshhhh..........

Hey, I've said it before and I'll say it again. I'm good with either Trump or Cruz. One of them will be the candidate unless the establishment really pulls something dirty with Rubio. That being said, a Bernie/Hillary  presidency after Obama is a one/two punch this country cannot take and still remain on its feet.

I prefer Cruz, but the GOP had better not force the candidate of their choice on us like the democrats are doing with Hillary.

If they try and shove someone that isn't one of the top two delegate receivers, then I might write in a candidate.

See, I like Cruz too. However I am not sure he's the man to shake up DC and set things on a better path. Hell, Trump might not be the right man for it either- but I'd rather him than Rubio.

My first choice was Dr Carson. Sadly Dr. Carson just isn't a politician.

It will be hard to stay in shape when Bernie provides us with all this free stuff. Free food, free phones, free everything.

The best part, free bacon!

Throw me in with the group who will eventually pull the lever for whoever turns out to be the "R" candidate.  The primaries come to my state  too late for me to make a difference, so it doesn't really matter who my first choice is.  I have what I feel to be legitimate reservations over Trump, but he worries me less than does a Bernout or Hildabeast presidency.  You fight with the army you've got, not the one you wish you had.

I'm only in my 30s.  There is too much at stake for somebody my age to sit out the election because "my guy" didn't get picked as the team captain.
