Let's run with this a bit.

Trump wins, let's say for the purpose of this exercise.  Sessions jumped on board early.

Antonin Scalia's replacement now possibly becomes someone that a Democratic-majority Senate would approve; maybe one of their own (a fellow Senator).  Ted Cruz would never be nominated by Trump.  Jeff Sessions, who was a Federal judge before being elected to the U.S. Senate from Alabama, could be nominated . . . and maybe be confirmed.  I'd take Jeff Sessions to replace Antonin Scalia on the SCOTUS in a heartbeat.  Pro-life, pro-2A . . . What's not to love? :whistling:

You're making the assumption that Trump would nominate a pseudo-conservative Gang of Eight Thug, who would magically become a constitutionalist.

I think that Trump is a f'n liberal and he'd jack up SCOTUS to the point that you can forget all about 2A, forget about Roe v. Wade, and forget about this country. It's toast.

I agree.  I think a lot of people in our party have been duped, and we're going to pay a heavy, heavy price.  If our base wasn't so freaking angry w/ the establishment.. Trump would have never had a chance.  To think we have a true, rock solid, proven,  Constitutional Conservative like Ted Cruz, and he's getting beat by the likes of Trump... is just mind boggling to me...

We can blame Mitch McConnell and John Boehner for the rise of Trump.

Tramp's popularity is a direct result of Republicans promising one thing on the campaign trail and then not following through. There were some things they did do, but others they seemed to only go at half-hearted, and others they didn't try at all. And the R establishment has thumbed their noses at conservatives for far too long. They want our vote, they know we want our representatives modeled after the best of Reagan, but in office they fall flat. They tell us stupid things like Reagan would have never approved or disapproved of this or that, as if we don't remember who he was, what he stood for, and that we know quite well exactly how he would have dealt with it. They really want the Party to be the old blue-blood, country club, Rockefeller Republicans. Reagan moved us past that non-sense, so why should we go back?

Conservatives want someone who constantly reminds the Dems/libs that if they count their lucky stars we might left them live today. Trump's the only one really taking it to them. And I, like many of you, don't count him as conservative. But, he does understand that the business of America is business. I'll give him that.

We can all support economic conservatism, the establishment needs to support the social conservatives, and together we can do great things. But they're at a real crossroad, because if they try to shove an establishment nominee down our throats after it's become obvious we don't want that, not only will they lose this election, they'll lose a whole bunch because, unlike the libs who enjoy being abused and will pull the lever for who they're told, we'll just refuse to participate. POOF!  There goes 1/2 the party. And maybe that's what they want. The Dems are at the same crossroads and they're going to get their establishment candidate. If the R establishment were to wake up, they could take advantage of that.

But what so many citizens fail to recognize is how conservatives go, so goes the country. We throw in the towel, it doesn't matter what the rest of the population does, the country is cooked. We are the backbone. The libs aren't, the Rockefeller R's aren't. We are.

Unless I misread it, he made the assumption that Sen. Sessions would get appointed. He is not on the same planet as the Gang of Eight.

But if he's casting hislot with Trump...especially after his defense and support of Ted Cruz in the past...you have to wonder what he was offered to sell his soul to Trump...much in the same way you have to wonder what Rubio was offered for going back on his immigration pledge and jumping in with the gang of 8.

At the end of the day...siding with Trump for a possible judgeship puts him on the same planet as the Gang of 8 Republicans.
The libs/dems of today are the Quislings of former years. The cowards who would vote a fraud into office in exchange for handouts from the devil.

Or just another professional politician looking for more power and more money to bilk out of the taxpayer.

At the end of the day, they're all ****ing unpolished turds -- and we all know you can't polish a turd.
