I love animals, as long as they're OTHER peoples animals. I don't want a dog. They poop and I have NO desire to pick up after them. I have NO desire to have them get sick in the middle of the night and I step into a surprise in the morning. I had a cat (it belonged to the ex-girlfriend who moved out but left her. I had to care for her). I found her a wonderful home rather than give her to a kill shelter. I got tired of the cacking in the middle of the night, and couldn't stand the cat hair everywhere.
Animals need to be taken care of, by other people. I'll do what I can to help, but don't want one myself.
They're not for everyone, but I will tell you this:
When the entire world turns against you and kicks you down a flight of stairs after robbing you and beating you silly, no matter how beat up you are, your dog(s) still love you unconditionally. The same can't generally be said of people, even close relatives sometimes.
Just something to ponder.
