A theory on GOP strategy.

The GOP has the opportunity to have Sanders and Clinton spin each other out. It figures that this kind of effort would be necessary given the chaos and odious nature of their own primary and dour prospects for a representative candidate.

The way it works:

Allow Sanders to put up enough of a challenge that all of Clinton's scar tissue stretches to the point of reopening political wounds. Help out by running subtle "proSanders" ads in primary states.

The conventional wisdom is still that Sanders shows well but comes up short.

When Clinton wins the Dem nomination then lower the boom on an indictment. She's finished.

Kapow.

Just a theory. I'm not a conspiratologist, just a Democrat who wants to win.

Vote Sanders and avoid regret.

DUmp Monkiez always think they know what the GOPe is up to. They were sure all [R]s wanted to elect Jeb. They were sure all [R]s want to elect Rubio now. They are sure [R]s are cheating at votes... now they are sure we want Sanders to 'almost' beat Hillary before 'we' indite her.

What would that do anyway?

11. My opinion is that Sanders and Clinton don't need to go after each other, any more. They need to concentrate on pointing out the weaknesses of the Republican candidates. Then the Democrats can decide which of the two Dem candidates is doing the best job of pointing out the weaknesses of the Republican Candidates, strategy and history.

Well, they went after each other last night, so....

This is the fallacy that throws the OP's whole idea out the window. Conventional wisdom does not show that Sanders comes up short. Conventional wisdom is that Hillary cleans his clock outside of the Northeast. Other than these first few primaries and perhaps and odd one here or there Bernie doesn't have a Frigidaire dealership's chance in hell of "coming up short."

I may be wrong about the current conventional wisdom...

Poll: Sanders nearly tied with Clinton nationwide

Democratic presidential hopeful Bernie Sanders has dramatically cut into the nationwide lead of primary rival Hillary Clinton, according to a new Quinnipiac University poll.

The poll released Friday finds Clinton leading the race with 44 percent support, compared to 42 percent support for Sanders, within the survey's margin of error.
The last iteration of the poll in December had Clinton leading Sanders nationwide by a 61-30 point margin.

“Democrats nationwide are feeling the Bern as Sen. Bernie Sanders closes a 31-point gap to tie Secretary Hillary Clinton,” said Tim Malloy, assistant director of the Quinnipiac University Poll.

The poll also finds that Sanders matches up better with top Republican primary candidates than Clinton.

:rotf: Ummmmmmmmm ... the EEEEEEE-vile Rs don't need such a "strategy". Absent some sort of game-changer event, the Ds will be hammering at and alienating each other from now till April or May.

And the crooks vote for the stupid while the stupid vote for the crooks. Amazing how that works out. There is balance in the farce.

Its just false bravado and manufactured bluster. They not only WANT the GOP around, they NEED the GOP around.

What really upsets them, is the idea that the GOP may cease filling the role of 'managed opposition', which could lead to actual conservative principles being enacted. This is why they hate Cruz even worse than trump.

Bernie has been quite the gentleman, (read *****) in not attacking Hillary on her current FBI problems, Benghazi, selling uranium to Russia, causing more war in the middle east, etc.

No Bernie has only gone after her on the fact that she is establishment and never met a Wall Street person she didn't like unless it was a doorman at some building.
