Didn't we invade Iran like five, six years ago?

You REALLY need to look at the post in it's 'original' form for all its...uh...impact-y-ness

Tell Congress: No acts of war in Iran

Is it so hard to believe that Democrats and Republicans in Congress

would move towards war with Iran, even before President Bush does?

House Resolution 362 is co-sponsored by Democrat Gary Ackerman of New York
and Republican Mike Pence of Indiana - the chair of the ultra-conservative
Republican Study Committee. Their resolution demands that President Bush
spearhead an international effort to create a land, air and sea blockade
of Iran, both to prevent Iran from exporting oil and petroleum-based goods
and to impose strict inspections on all of its imports.

Make no mistake about it, this resolution is only steps away from war with Iran.

And it has serious momentum in Congress.

However, some members of Congress have begun to back away from this resolution, including
Reps. Wexler (D-FL) and Frank (D-MA), who are vocally opposing it, and Reps. Cohen (D-TN),
Allen (D-ME), and Clay (D-MO), who have removed themselves as co-sponsors.

This moment is an important one: Congress is pausing on this legislation, and we can
get the House leadership to remove the blockade language if we act now.

We recognize that Iran poses real threats in the Middle East, but Congress must not act prematurely
and make a bad situation much, much worse. We can't afford another rushed, failed war.

We strongly urge you to change the language of H.R. 362 in the following ways:

1. Remove all language calling for a military blockade of Iran.

2. Add language supporting American diplomatic engagement with Iran to end
their nuclear aspirations and backing of terrorism.

A military blockade of Iran would be a dangerous step toward war, and neither
our nation nor the world can afford another Iraq. If the above changes cannot
be made to H.R. 362, Congress must oppose it.

 :overreaction:

Heaven help them!  Congress is turning on them and their childlike pretend notion that the absence of war = peace.

(Actually, they don't give a sh*t about war - they just don't want the USA to win)

“The American people will never knowingly adopt socialism. But, under the name of ‘liberalism’, they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program, until one day America will be a socialist nation, without knowing how it happened.” - Norman Thomas, U.S. Socialist Party presidential candidate 1940, 1944 and 1948

"America is like a healthy body and its resistance is threefold: its patriotism, its morality, and its spiritual life. If we can undermine these three areas, America will collapse from within."  Stalin
