'Goldilocks' thief found by burgled family asleep in child's bed after break-in

A family returning from a day out were stunned to find a dozy burglar lying fast asleep in one of their beds, a court heard today.

Dopey Tommy Gill was branded the 'Goldilocks’ burglar by police after he was found slumbering in a child’s bed surrounded by stolen possessions.

The 27-year-old picked up a rucksack and stuffed the boy’s new X-box computer and games into it. He also raided the boy’s money box which contained 120pounds he had saved up for his holiday.

Gill stashed the cash down his trousers and headed upstairs where he promptly fell asleep on a mattress.

After he was arrested Gill told police he had taken 15 Valium tablets and was deeply sorry to the family for what he had done.
