So ... FL license boards don't do criminal background checks?
So ... FL license board license applications don't ask for 5-10 years of applicants' residency history?
So ... FL license board license applications don't ask applicants if they've ever been arrested or convicted of a crime?
Admittedly, I don't know the answers to those questions, but I have a hard time believing the license board did not know - through voluntary direct disclosure and/or through the application vetting process - that Orlando Cicilia had been convicted of and done time for a drug offense (arrested in 1987, released in 2000).
Through his sister and his parents, he had known how Cecilia had conducted himself for over a year and a half after being released.
And, in 20-20 hindsight, how did it turn out? Judging from
this NY Post article, it looks like Cecilia is, to this day, a productive citizen. IOW, Rubio's judgement/recommendation has been proved correct for 13 years and counting. Somehow, I don't think the WashPost's gotcha article made this point.
