Sunday, July 27, 2008 Guess Who Protected Barack in Afghanistan? http://sayanythingblog.com/entry/guess_who_protected_barack_in_afghanistan/By Proof on July 27, 2008 at 07:28 am 10 Comments That would be Blackwater. Blackwater??? Those despicable mercernaries??? Last October: Democrats have been unable to force President Bush to change course in Iraq—sometimes it’s enough to make you want to scream. And that’s exactly what at least one little audience member did Wednesday, as Barack Obama announced a plan to reign in rogue contractors in the wake of the scandal surrounding Blackwater USA. “The contractors would also have to follow rules of engagement,†Obama was saying, as an infant’s wail rose from the crowd. “I know—he’s outraged too about Blackwater,†Obama said as the child cried out again. “I know—it’s terrible.â€â€œTerrible!†Unless your own personal butt is at risk! Then, you want to hire the professionals! Washington Whispers......confirms that Blackwater did handle the Democratic presidential candidate’s security in Afghanistan and helped out in IraqAnyone care to break out the other “H†word for Obama here? Blackwater Got the Gig Securing Obama in AfghanistanJuly 25, 2008 05:00 PM ET | Paul Bedard | Permanent Link http://www.usnews.com/blogs/washington-whispers/2008/7/25/blackwater-got-the-gig-securing-obama-in-afghanistan.htmlSen. Barack Obama has not been a fan of private police like Blackwater in war zones, and some news outlets even reported that they were spurned for his trip last week to Afghanistan and Iraq. But Whispers confirms that Blackwater did handle the Democratic presidential candidate's security in Afghanistan and helped out in Iraq. What's more, Obama was overheard saying: "Blackwater is getting a bad rap." Since everything appeared to go swimmingly, maybe he will take firms like Blackwater out of his sights, the company's supporters hope.
Another liberal in the tradition of Ted KennedyHe's extremely cautious about weapons ownership and self-defense by citizens, but not when it comes to his own safety. Kennedy's personal bodyguard was arrested for attempting to enter a Senate Office building with a concealed illegal submachine gun. Ted, of course, used every form of intimidation to prevent his own thug from being prosecuted, by claiming the bodyguard was armed "on my instructions" - despite the absolute local (D.C.) ban on private gun ownership, and the absolute Federal ban on weapons in the building.
Um...Is there a choice in security over there? I thought Bushie's cronies pretty much had the market wrapped up... I have no doubt Obama would compliment the individuals doing security work over there and make a distinction between them and the company for which they work. Nuances of policy and relationships like that are often lost in the "black and white" world of partisan politics. Too bad. I hope Obama can do what he says he wants to do. That will totally depend on whether regular people like us get involved, or we continue to let the government run free. Our best chance: Obama!! (Along with an informed electorate!)
BlackwaterREAD Jeremy Scahill's book "Blackwater"..... we live in dangerous times!!! The Constitution has been eviscerated by this administration.... they have their own Supreme Court and own PRIVATE army. What happens when Bush/Cheney decide they DON'T want to leave office????? When the "higher voice" tells him to stay in office.....
