29 Executed in Iran
 Advertisements [?]http://www.cnn.com/2008/WORLD/meast/07/27/iran.executio...

Why is this newsworthy but executions by the hundreds in our prisons are not? It just makes one wonder; Could it be that someone is trying to make us think of Iran as a barbaric nation? Who would want that? What news network would work to that end?

that's intresting. Tommy has changed his avi from a vietnam campaign ribbon to a bronze star.

By the hundreds?  Made up non-reality to force a liberal view there, ol' Thom.

42 men, all coldblooded murderers, were put to death in all of the 50 United States in 2007.  14 of them were black men.  28 of them were white men.   All of them had stolen the precious possession of life from another human being.

Wanna try again, Thom?

Facts and the DUMbass, never shall the two meet.
When you are the beneficiary of someone’s kindness and generosity, it produces a sense of gratitude and community.

When you are the beneficiary of a policy that steals from someone and gives it to you in return for your vote, it produces a sense of entitlement and dependency.

If you will notice, the use of the death penalty soared about twenty years, or one generation, after Madalyn Murray O'Hair's famous interference in our school systems.

Last I heard we didn't use the death penalty for being gay or for adultry or for having your honor soiled. However in that wonderfull paradise in Iran its not a problem. Hey Thom go have a visit over there and see what they would say about your views on their laws.

How many homos are executed here for being homos, DUmmies? How many adulterers? How many people spreading propaganda? None? Oh, so it's just murderers, eh?

Go sell crazy some place else. We DO hold the higher ground, you jackasses.  :whatever:

You know, I never would have guessed that Iran is a "barbaric" nation if Thom hadn't pointed it out. *eyeroll*

How dare the media portray such a free, democratic nation that way!!

I assume Thom is ready go live in Iran now?

No, my friends, there’s only one really progressive idea. And that is the idea of legally limiting the power of the government. That one genuinely liberal, genuinely progressive idea — the Why in 1776, the How in 1787 — is what needs to be conserved. We need to conserve that fundamentally liberal idea. That is why we are conservatives. --Bill Whittle

3. I don't think anyone was concerned about the death penalty when this was published
This isn't about the death penalty, its about arousing hatred, fear, and loathing of Iran. It is to make them seem to be barbaric, inhumane and unhuman - a natural enemy.

Kinda like the way the media only reports the alleged misdeeds of our troops in Iraq and never the thousands of individual good things they've accomplished, you mean? :whatever:

By the way, every time someone is executed at Florida State Prison, it's reported in the media around the state. So yeah, I'm pretty sure people know some U.S. states have the death penalty, and yeah, I'm pretty sure people know it gets used.

I doubt the unfortunate souls in Iran had the benefit of sitting around Death Row for 2-3 decades having their sentence vetted by government review boards, getting millions of dollars worth of appeals and being advocated for by anti-death penalty groups.

So sorry that one of your favorite despotic nations got some bad PR.

The mountain man primitive is just an old fuddy-duddy, soft in the head.

It's very sad to see that happen to someone only nearly 65 years old; he spends his days dreaming of the long-ago and never-was Camelot, an unreconstructed Kennedyite, John the Father, Bobby the Christ, and Vast Teddy the Holy Spirit.

He really believes that stuff.

It's very sad to see people grow senescent before their time.
