Suspect in Shooting at Colorado Planned Parenthood Identified as Robert Dear, No Motive Known

The identify of the suspect arrested late Friday in connection with the shooting at a Planned Parenthood abortion facility in Colorado Springs has been released. Robert Lewis Dear, 57-years-old and residing in North Carolina, was arrested at the scene in connection with the violent shooting that claimed the lives of three people, including one police officer and injured 9 others, including multiple officers.

Meanwhile, Planned Parenthood officials have confirmed none of the people killed in the shooting or 9 victims who were injured were Planned Parenthood abortion clinic staff or patients and authorities have released no motive for the shooter as to whether or not he actually targeted Planned Parenthood.

Police spokeswoman Catherine Buckley said the clinic was the original site of the attack, though preliminary reports had indicated it may have been a nearby Chase Bank. The motive of the suspect was not immediately clear. Buckley said she could not confirm the connection between the Planned Parenthood office and the shooting, but could confirm that the Planned Parenthood location was the address of the original report of shots fired.

“We don’t yet know the full circumstances and motives behind this criminal action, and we don’t yet know if Planned Parenthood was in fact the target of this attack,” Planned Parenthood of the Rocky Mountains President Vicki Cowart said in a statement.

Well they can believe  what they want. It doesn't changed the facts though. The PP building is right across the street from Chase. In fact, it's actually close to a large senior living complex as well which could supply ample cover for some maniac looking to hide after hitting the bank.

Looking on Google Maps, it looks like there's a largish shopping center across the street from the Chase bank, with another bank, a Japanese restaurant, a supermarket, and a Subway. Is PP located in that center?

All in all, it looks to me like the guy is a loony-toon who was set off by ?? and chose a locale with lots of potential victims and traffic to hinder police response.

PP is located north of the shopping center about 180 yards and to the west of the street.
There is so much conflicting news out now there is possibly no way we will ever know the truth of the matter.

From what I heard as it was happening, the cops didn't block off the streets in the area,and there was still a lot of traffic coming through.

Accused Planned Parenthood shooter charged with rape in North Charleston in 1992

The man accused of opening fire Friday in a Colorado Springs Planned Parenthood was charged with rape in North Charleston more than 20 years ago, according to police reports.

Robert Lewis Dear, a Charleston native, was arrested Dec. 31, 1992, on a charge of first-degree criminal sexual conduct. No disposition for the charge shows up on Dear’s official criminal record, generally an indication that a charge has been dismissed. The Post and Courier could not determine late Monday how the case was resolved.

I'm currently in traffic with the funeral procession going by for the fallen officer. You guys have to see it to believe  it. People lined up everywhere, it has to be over 1000 police vehicles from multiple states going by. This is simply incredible and moving.
