poll: have you made up your mind yet?
« on: November 24, 2015, 11:37:50 AM »
The Bernie bullies on Skins's island are starting to piss me off big-time, their latest rudeness being "demanding" that people make a choice now.

Like eleven and three-quarters months before the elections.

And even if they're talking the primaries, well, most of those are several months away yet.

So why make a choice now?

For the record, I have no favorite candidate among the (R)s; they all pass muster with franksolich.  The presidential primary in Nebraska is in May 2016--my God, a whole six months, a whole half an entire year, away--and I suppose I'll make my decision just before then.

I have a preference (Carson or Cruz) but still too early to know as the field will winnow out quickly after the first few primaries.
Jeb would be my last choice, just below Christi and could live with Rubio or Kasich.
Trump is spot on about illegals but don`t trust him much beyond that.

Aw, I dunno.

Considering the abysmal quality of the current president and executive leadership, I could live with any of the (R) candidates, from one end of the spectrum clear over to the other.

I'm more into character than I am into ideology, and to be bluntly honest, the most corrupt Republican candidate (whoever that is, if there is one) is miles and miles and miles cleaner than the most "honest" (an impossibility, I know) Democrat candidate.

No doubt about that but am hoping for a better then lesser of two evils choice.

Remarkably, I'm trending that way.

I don't care much for Trump because he's too much of a hedonist, a materialist.....but on the other hand, he might be exactly what we need, to get us back on track again.

So unlike many here, and despite my deal about "character," I got no problems at all with Donald.

Strangely enough, I agree with you.  I could see Cruz being Trump's VP pick.

I like Cruz and Carson as well, but I'd vote for Trump just to keep whateverthehell dimrat candidate nominee out of the White House.

I haven't made up my mind yet, as we aren't even at the first primaries yet, and a lot can happen between now and then. However,  I am hoping that either Cruz or Trump make it through the first few rounds so that I can vote for them in the primaries. As for who I'm not voting for, DEFINITELY not Hillary (didn't like her first 8 years as president) or Bernie (not interested in paying for skittle-shitting unicorns for everyone) .

I'm pretty sure that is how this is going to play out.

Not a big Trump fan, but a Trump/Cruz ticket would be okay. Trump as the showman, Cruz as the hammer. I would prefer a Cruz presidency, but I will take what I can get.

Well, I guess this shows another one of the major differences between decent and civilized people, and the primitives.

As long as there's time before a particular event, what's the point in making up one's mind until then?

If I were a Democrat, liberal, or primitive, I'd always keep in mind that Messalina Agrippina may yet be convicted of a major felony, or that Methuselah may yet die of old age.

And where would that leave me, having made up my mind which one to support?  Suppose I chose to support the one who, in the end, was the wrong one?

For me simply too early to tell. There is a lot about Trump I don't like.  Even though his immigration stance is good, I'm afraid in other areas he might make the RINOs look conservative.  If he's the nominee I will vote for him.  Cruz and Carson look good.  I'm guessing by the time the primaries get here in WI there will be a pretty clear cut leader and my vote won't count for much.

Being a conservative from Illinois, my vote in the General election doesn't matter since Illinois always goes for the Demonrat.  By the time Illinois has its primaries, there is usually only one or two viable choices left for the GOP ticket.

I need to be like a democrat and find a way to vote in Iowa.

I had my choice back in March. I don't have a problem with picking early. Ted Cruz is head and shoulders above the crowd on virtually every issue, and has the bonafides and experience to prove he will follow through. He has a couple of shifts, notably on TPP and H1B's, but he has never been outrageously off-message at any time in his adult career, not just in the senate.

That said, of course I will vote for anyone against Hillary, even if the eventual GOP nominee. I voted for Romney/Ryan last time, even though I held my nose. The only two other candidates who have a realistic shot are Cruz and Trump (barring an incromprehensible resurrection of the Bush campaign by a desperate socialist mainstream media).

Consider one more thing: A Cruz nomination will attract millions of real conservatives that weren't present in 2008 and 2012. Remember, the mainstream media's primary goal is to get a moderate to run as the GOP candidate or to find a discontented GOP candidate to run third party.
